Reinstalled after a few months away

So, you uninstalled the game, which removes the games files from your computer, and you expected things to be saved?
I fail to see the logic behind that thought process.
Even before reformatting a computer or uninstalling a game to make room for another game, you should always back up save files, config files, etc. You would want to back up photos from your phone before you reset to factory settings, the same applies with computer games.

See you in 5 months when Odyssey releases!

I'm guessing he assumed bindings are saved with the commander (some games do this, in my experience it's rare) and he might just be pointing out that there are a lot of binds and who has time to go through them all for just a quick "months old" reunion with a game?

I know I'd be put off it if I lost my binds. But the four hours I spent in beta getting them set up initially pretty much alerted me all the way back then that I should check if they're local and get that saved somewhere.

I'd also do this in my head if I was the op...

1) oh, I lost my binds
2) hmm, can't be bothered to play
3) uninstall
4) should I tell anyone about it?
5) how about the forums?
6) nah, I'd look a bit daft
7) but maybe it's an interesting anecdote?
8) no, it's really not interesting at all
9) maybe funny?
10) not in any way that makes me look good, at least not if I look like I'm being serious
11) maybe I should do it to help others?
12) no, I'm pretty sure most people have probably got this without my help
13) hmm, maybe I'll go play flight simulator 2020 and just stay quiet
14) oh, I lost my binds...
15) fuuuuuuuuu...

How long have you played for? If it's since launch I'm impressed with your refusal to reinstall Windows over more than 6 years :D

That's some stamina right there. I think I've reinstalled Windows about 8 to 10 times since 2014. Three or four times just in the last couple months due to a new pc and hardware problems (not just my pc mind) and at least a couple due to hard disk death, granted, but I don't tend to go more than 3 or 4 years before I get twitchy about cleaning house.

There's not a lot better than having a new clean install, I think. And w10 is so easy to install compared to previous versions. I think the process took me about 30 minutes on my current pc.

(if you're still using W7 then I understand the reluctance ;))
I've played since December 2014 launch & have over 10.5k hours on the clock.

I'm on my third laptop now since ED's launch, so I've kept up with Bill Gates & his nosey software releases;).
Never had any issues with ED on my previous laptops, other than a reduction in quality settings as time passed, until my next newer laptop arrived.
Also never once have I lost any bindings using a Phantom Hawk joystick.
Hovever I bought a Thrustmaster before Christmas & have now for the first time actually backed up my keybindings.........just in case:cool:

The OP is have a little tizzy fit because the uninstaller did not realise he may change his mind. How that software would know that fhe user was just having a temporary uninstall I'm not sure. It's a bit of computer code and not able to read the mind of the OP.

Maybe next time dont uninstall just because you dont want to play the game for a while.

i have re installed ed a couple of times and never had any prob re setting my key binding, i have a written note of them, any body remember pen and paper in this digital world,it realy works,us old ones are always right, lol 07 cmdrs
