Release 1.2. is great!

Agreed. Wings as a properly implemented multiplayer mechanic is an absolute game changer. Even though I didn't buy ED for the MP aspect, I really enjoyed flying with wingmen so far and I know there are many gamers out there who do care a lot more about multiplayer than me and therefore will be absolutely delighted with how 1.2 turned out!

The best thing about the Wings system is that it can be made and broken as required. You can join up with some people for an evening and then you could all go your separate ways without ever seeing each other again. Or you can 'friend' with them and hook-up on a more frequent basis.

It is completely flexible. Great! 8)

I didn't realize it during the beta last week, but playing the live version last night I noticed the sounds have improved a lot, too! My Asp's boost sounds beefier than before and the added small sound bits for FSD CD, different kinds of warnings etc. add up to a even better acoustical experience than before!

+1 rep to the OP. I totally agree. Of course there will be some minor patches as usual that will polish any little bugs. There are always going to be bugs. It is in the nature of coding any type of software. But up to now, Frontier has shown professionalism by continously releasing small patches that correct any unavoidable minor bugs that pop up every now and then.

I would have been on board had you not pointed to people complaining. If you are going to make a positive post, go for it, but don't take it as an opportunity to snipe at people not enjoying the update. Glad that it's working out otherwise.

What what what????

You would have been onboard if he hadn't mentioned that people are complaining and then you go on and do nothing but complain?????
It you are going to make a post at all, go for it, but bring a little bit more to the floor than a snipe at someone.

ANyway back to the OP

I wholeheartedly agree with you, the wings update is what this game has been crying out for, i think its made it so much more dynamic.
Its actually feels like i am part of something now, where as before i just felt like a visitor, to a system with stuff going on around me but with no emotional connection to what i was doing.
The wings update has changed that for me, working with someone else against multiple ships far more enjoyable than me just pew pewing 1 vs 1 in a weak signal source.

Hoping the 1.3 update will have what's needed to make mining a bit more feasible and less boring, its the only area that has not received some real love.

We have to be careful this does not mutate into a recursive function without break condition :D

But thanks for having my back ;)

As someone currently exploring, liking 1.2 so far. Pirates seem to be less plentiful in unpopulated systems, makes my life a bit easier. New heat gauge is much more handy for scooping and combat jumps too. All and all a less janky experience.

I'll get to the shooting stuff later, probably in an Viper.

I think 1.2 is blooming fab-u-lous.

Of course the 'moaners will keep a moaning', but if 1.3 keeps up this direction of travel, I think well all be getting our rocks-off honey... a-la Primal Scream.

:D

1.2 has defiantly softened the mood around here, the feedback has been mostly positive.

1.1 was the big bug hunt - pretty typical after first realease.
1.2 Was the first major feature update, small content push. Very good sign here, as it's very good progress.

1.3 Should see the first major content push - they're keeping tight lipped but it's been teased as the biggest update yet...

The future of this game is looking good, continued improvement like this and by the time ED hits the consoles we'll be looking at 9+ reviews.

1.2 is going down very well for me, I might even make another how fast to 5mil video to celebrate the reopening of bounty hunting!

I also enjoy the 1.2 update!

I just yesterday started my second exploration voyage. I used the profits I got from my first exploration trip (all 800 ly away from SOL and back to civilization) to purchase an Advanced Discovery Scanner to my Cobra, so now I feel I am much better equipped for a longer exploration trip.

I was a bit worried about the NPC wings, and as I started my trip, immediately in the first (inhabited) system I passed thru I got interdicted. I had switched my weapons from 2xbeam laser and 2xmulti-cannon to 3xlasers and 1 multi-cannon (don't want to spend ammo on a long exploration trip), and the first ship I targeted (an Eagle without shields) went BOOM after a couple of seconds of laser fire! The remaining pirate ships immediately turned tail and ran, which made me laugh out loud. :)

After that I reached uninhabited systems, and have not even seen an NPC ship since that inhabited system. I think I read that the pirate encounters are supposed to be less frequent outside the inhabited space, but I did not think they would actually be completely nonexistent! That is very good news for us explorers, so thanks for that!

The wings update is incredible. Met many new friends tonight. We got in plenty of trouble, bailed each other out. Some of the most fun I've had since launch! Way to go, Frontier! :)

Thargoids? Did someone say Thargoids?

This is the Elite Dangerous I've been looking for.

Ok, truth being said, at launch I said the same thing. To say the same thing three months later might just be unprecedented in the history of video games. Bravo, FD. Bravo.

Why would you post a bug on Reddit rather than the bug forums?

from reddit - note the platform of choice

So, since Beta 2 my sh***y laptop and I have been able to play the game well enough on low, there were pauses when nearing planets in supercruise and then I could continue to the station. In Beta 3 I get to the planet and the pause occurs, and remains, until I'm kicked to the main menu with the message "Couldn't connect to the server" Is this a bug or is my laptop suddenly awful between betas?

Thargoids? Did someone say Thargoids?

they're coming i think
can they smell a fight ?
can they smell blood on you as you pass through witch space jumping ?
Who are their friends and foes ?
How "hard" are they, my last battles with them in the 80's broke a joystick
Survivial is not assured if you encounter them ?
Should we be afriad oh yes

They'll be coming (perhaps even going by a completely different name), but it wouldn't make sense for them to do so right now. They'd essentially just be NPC pirates with a different look. When they've properly implemented military and strategic co-ordination, then there'll be a chance. That side of things is needed for an entire faction which acts with a single objective in mind - and for the areas of space they invade to properly be able to defend themselves.
