Release a lore book?

Maybe an E book so you don't have to do anything crazy but you can consolidate lore and clarify some of the reconned stuff for the player base so we can get on the same page. Id pay 5 squid or what ever you Brits call it. But it would be cool to get a peak under the hood. Possibly more concept art of normal every day life for normal people. I even backed the RPG game for a peak at more stuff.

Anyone else interested in the daily goings on of normal people and some of the stuff we don't get to see in the game from a book(or E book) I can't be the only chum doing my doings drinking whiskey wondering what these chaps I blow up do during their down time.

A lore book would be nice, but even better would be to present the basic lore somewhere in game in a consolidated form, something like the Mass Effect Codex. As things currently stand you have fragments scattered across the bubble at tourist beacons or buried in Gal Net or else requiring people to buy the various official fiction.

Never played Mass Effect(sounded too much like Star Gate Atlantis from what I heard of.) But it does sound like the in game lore book for Final Fantasy Tactics which was pretty large by the end of the game. Would be nice.

I'd buy it. More lore is always good. Especially if it focuses on the normal comings and goings of life rather than grand storylines.

The in-game encyclopedia idea is good too.

Exactly this!

We need an "electronic library". Preferably with hyper links to internal references and the ability to directly plot courses to locations (systems, planets, even coordinates on planets) mentioned in it.

I am also in for this. It would be helpful to have those lore books in a localized manner, to support those players with lesser sophisticated english skills. (Which will drive cost for translation, of course)

A good lore book would be integrated into the game, undergoing constant upgrades as the story and the simulation progresses. At best readable in the role menue, so you could read or search while supercrusing. Maybe with videos and pictures to make the experience solid.

edit: yes, i would pay 5,- for it, as the OP suggested.

ebook? No OP, if they were to bring out a lore book, I'd want a nice huge hardback coffee table book, with high quality pages and pictures, illustrations, concept art etc... I'd pay for that.

I would like to see central information system which you can access from your ship. You should be able to use it while traveling in SC ... let`s say to Hutton Orbital for instance. It would be a nice way to spend time in SC.

It would be great to see categorys like:

- Equipment (description, statistics, if needed a little "how to")
- Weapons (description, statistics, if needed a little "how to")
- Ships (description, statistics)
- News
- Politics
- History
- Alien life forms
etc.

I realy would like to see this...

All of this appears in the 5 EDRPG books we are producing but they do come with a caveat that we have a non lore license. This means that whilst we have created equipment, weapons, new ships etc they are not lore, well not at the moment anyway. FDev have no obligation to use any of it going forward.

That being said, back in the 1980's the first Star Wars RPG was released by West End Games and this very quickly grew into over 70 source books and supplements of one sort or another jam packed with all the lore goodies. It is lovely to see many of their inventions gracing the big screen in the latest set of films. So who knows, if our creations don't jar with the ED Galaxy then maybe they will be adopted.

And thanks OP for backing us!

Just like the game itself, you have to look all over to drink that in, otherwise the shameful lack of content would be obvious.

Yes to both an in game and out of game lore repository. It is very much needed to add depth.

Also Mass Effect is very much worth the effort. They are getting long in the tooth now but it is a very well realised universe that rewards.

Didn't they say on one stream they'd love a Lore-pedia, just dont have the available work hours to set aside someone to compile it?

Either way I support the idea

One of the reasons I backed the RPGs was for the lore and feel for the galaxy that will be found within, even if not 100% offical
