You posted it with V1.37c. V1.37d is actual. Clean database? With no entries, or what? Did you use the database, i send you?

Please post the codeline. Thanks in advance.

Hi there - sorry, I should have put more info
Yes - I was using 1.37c - I will try with 1.37d tomorrow
I missed the d version :(

Love the tool. But there seems to be an overwhelming issue with importing you're old DB. Which is a bummer especially if you have been to alot of places. Hope it get soughted quickly. :)

With regards to importing my old db, regardless of which version I've tried it always fails.

I have the latests version 1.37b unpacked to a clean directory, then I copy 1.37d xls file into the same folder.
I then change the name of the 2 station db file to be the db I want to use
TCE starts with the 2 station database and appears to function fine.
Then going to Options locating my personal db and running the import results in the issues that have been mentioned previously. As per this posting.
UAC is deactivated.

Therefore I resorted to copying my old TCE.mdb over the top of the new db and copying the changes directly into the Access db file, these being the new Military economies and the Unsanctioned Station.
Looking at the differences between both files apart from my station data everything else looks the same, in that it has the same number of rows for all tables in Access.

Fortunately this method worked for me, but I'm concerned that if/when you change the schema for the db or change it in a big way my db won't work and I won't be able to import it.
I've now got very paranoid I'll lose my saved station data, so I'm being very meticulous with saving my own backups on a regular basis, in fact I backup the whole of the TCE directory, just incase.

At the moment I'm still able to use TCE with my own db after the above manipulation, but I'd like to be able to import it via the correct method and not have to edit the Access file, as although it looks fairly straightforward to do that, I'm sure I could break it quite easily without knowing really why.

TL : DR :D
I've read all the issues others have had with importing there db into TCE and tried all the other methods you've stated, nothing helps with the import I still get the same errors each and every time.

Hello,
I'm in need of some help too with importing the database.

The original install is in documents/tce (this is the 1.37 beta1 version)
The new install is in the documents/v1.37b/tce (this is the new 1.37b full install with the new excel file making it v1.37d)
I've already modified the EliteOCR file successfully for the new Mineral.
UAC is off (restarted to complete the task)
I've started with the 2 station database and that loads up fine.
I've attempted to import the old database, I'm assuming this is the file inside the old directory My documents/tce/db/tce.mdb
But I get the error below:
View attachment 21628

After several clicks of OK on this window it doesn't open the file.
I've also noticed this happens where ever I point to the file, although the original tce launches fine.

Any ideas please, what am I missing?

This error comes, when your database is damaged and cant be imported into TCE.
Question: Did you both added Painite into your database before updating to V1.37 non-beta?

There was a bug in the V1.37 beta versions, that breaks the database, when adding a new commodity. I will try to rescue your data, if you upload your database to a server (like dropbox), so i can download it and checking the status. But as i can see, TCE evolves quite fast and problems with old data are inevitable.

Yes PINITE is in my db, Row 81. I added it in version 1.36x

I'll send you a PM with a link to my current db.

If you're able to identify what the problem is, let me know and I can then check it and see what I've done wrong previously.

I've just shared the link with you. I've realised that what I did do was blank the commodities for the two systems I didn't want to have auto trade routes too, those were the two systems used on the original two system database.

Thanks for looking into this.

Hello everybody,

thank you for sending me your databases. All files are fine in structure and content (beside Bragolatch, there was painite added, but no price entries for all stations). I imported all and got no error here. All worked well.

I think, its not a problem of TCE, but of Excel/Access version. I use the 2007 version (both Excel and Access), what versions you are using? Also, please check, if your office versions are really up-to-date.

Please tell me also, when getting this error. If you select the datase? While import process?

Thanks.

Ah, that explains it. I'm using Office Pro 2010, and I'm not surprised they'll be differences with files from one version to another, Microsoft just love changing it for every new version update. I'll let you know the outcome latter this evening when I get home from work.

But thanks greatly for your assistance.

Perhaps i should move completely to mySQL, but i didnt know much about it. It will try to get into it.

Eventure,
I am using Excel and Access 2010, with the latest updates from yesterday applied. Didn't get to even do the import or select any boxes, failed to open the database for import.

I'm using
Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 (x64)
just checked again, no more updates.

I will try the db you just sent me tomorrow.

Thanks !!!

The 1004 query error. Did you get the error, when selecting the database to import?

So, i think i found the issue. It a rename function to the access table, you want to import. It runs on 2007 only. I will change it to be compatible with all other versions. Next update will fix this issue hopefully.

Yes I did before, but the last db you sent me said "ready to use database" so I did not import it, I replaced my TCE.mdb with the one you sent me.
Is that ok, I did not have time to use it yet and made a backup before, so there is still time if that was a mistake !

Also, in the DB folder, there is now a file "TCE.mdb_tmp" that wasn't there before V1.37 Full.
Is this something needed or just a junk file we can remove ?

I believe the only 3 needed files are :

Languages.mdb
Panel.mdb
TCE.mdb

Right ???

Back with another error I'm afraid!

In my current data base I only have two stations but added a couple of stars. I dropped in to a system after adding one new star and it threw up an error :

error.jpg

System was :

sys.jpg

Once restarted it allowed me to enter the system a second time without a crash.

EDIT : Seems to crash on every 2nd new system found. The new system can then be put in fine once you restart it.

Sorry if this has been asked before, I did a search and read about 20 pages in the thread but couldn't find it.

If I try to set a key in the options for hiding/showing the TCE, it starts blinking but doesn't react on any key pressed. Even after restarting it continues blinking.
So what am I doing wrong? Did I miss something on that?

Thanks in advance, would like to use TCE "productively", seems like a great tool.

I've also had this problem when I tried it. I prefer to have TCE displayed all the time anyway so I've not used it since.

There is something weird going on after adding a New Star System I encountered something similar last night, although I was only on for a short while so I haven't had time to investigate thoroughly.
