Today, i want to give you all a preview of the reworked Compact UI comming next with TCE V1.44:

Hi Eventure,

My suggestions:

- Minimize the vertical space taken by the station name box. Maybe move the icons to the right of the Station name, or move the economy type to the right of the station name.

- Replace the repair icon with a wrench, and the shipyard icon with a spaceship icon.

- Please don't get rid of the classic UI, as it is very quick and easy to get to the sub-menus. If you do, it's cool, I'll get used to the new/compact UI!

- I don't use the navigation feature, so I cannot comment on that.

- To make up for the space from removing 'search route to', maybe move the 'find commodity / set trade range' to the middle where 'search route to' was, and add in another 'trade advisor' on the right that shows what you would buy at the selected destination to bring back to your current destination. The one on the left currently shows you what you should buy where you're at to sell at where you're going. The new one on the right would show what you would buy at your destination that you could sell where you're at. Hope that make sense. Think of it as an extension of the "trade scout" feature.

Just some ideas. I will post more if I think of them.

TCE Crash.

Hi Eventure,

Further to my earlier problem.

I have deleted my previous installation and re-installed 1.43 using the installer.

I am still getting a lot of errors starting with Error in startsequence.
Error line 234

Error (380) could not set the Zoom properly. Invalid property value.

Enter a value between 10 and 400.

Then it carries on to issue display errors.

Obviously I am picking up some bad data from somewhere, can you help please?

I've been getting the following error

Office is up to date and I am using 1.43 TCE against my old database imported through the Database Manager.

The error comes when just flying in system - I am not doing anything with TCE when it happens.

Any idea what this might be ?

Yes, we have the problem before. It has to do with the Stored Location > Outfitting. I created a new routine for it now, so the issue will be fixed in next update.

Also tried setting the CPU priorities, and even for the two programs (ED and Excel) to run on different cores. Excel isnt even really pulling any resources but a lot of RAM.

Im not using an active antivirus, and have no firewall. All the processes are off, down to bare essentials, ED, Watchdog, Excel. If ED is running alone, or if TCE is minimized (which is a pain to get it to minimize and stay there) 72 FPS in station. If TCE is on top, 22 FPS. If TCE is on top, but hidden, 27 FPS.

Im stumped here, but it does seem a natural thing for the PC to do, give priority to the application on top. Any way to correct this behavior?

What are your PC specs (CPU,RAM,HDD)?
@Try this to test:
Start TCE without going into ED, load a different game and look, if the behavior continues.

In an attempt to fix the problem, I updated my ATI catalyst drivers. Something I only do in total desperation as, once again, after doing so, it borked up my driver and I had to reinstall windows.

Luckily, I keep windows on a disk all of its own, so there no maor data loss when I need to do this. Im currently recovering the system, and I'll have a fresh install of -everything- and most recent updates to try this again. Well see how it goes.

I found 2 bugs
1) Updating/Adding prices. After OCR finish its work i sometime see, that price is incorrect. Tryed correct it manualy and i'am getting error.
2) Adding unknown star systems. Always getting errors. At first i thought, that i must use "," instead of "." but problem remains.

Aua, sorry to hear. But my next guess would be the drivers.
There are only few users reported a FPS drop of ED, so i guess it has nothing to do with TCE itself.
But if the problem persist, try to deactivate the standard panel display mode and restart TCE.

To 2) Found the bug, it is a clipboard issue again. Nothing critical. The star system is added correctly. Next update will fix it.

Hi folks, here comes another preview of TCE 1.44:

The Trade Route Planner. Let's have a look:

As you see, the filter options are mainly the same, as for the trade scout. But Route Loop and Commodity Exclude is new here.
With the loop setting, you choose to make a route, that ends at the start station selected, or with an open end. This have to be done before adding your first station, thereafter it is locked.
With the exclusion of certain commodities, you can select, what goods you will transport. It is preselected by commodities, that can't be bought and their profit is less than predetermined at the Minimum Commodity Filter section.

The command buttons are:
- SEARCH ROUTE: Removed.
- PREVIEW ROUTE: You can cycle through all selected station at the Trade panel.
- START ROUTE: TCE selecting the closest station and sets it as the new destination, if reached, TCE goes into the TRADE LOCK, and route will be started.
- CLEAR REGISTER: Clears all selected stations to make a new route.
- LOAD, SAVE and DELETE is self-explanatory.

Below the button comes the station register. All stations in route are listed here. The checkmark before every station shows, that the route is complete (start station import and last station export commodity is the same).
The cross behind the last station is to delete the station from the register.

Below the register we have the list of station to choose from. They depending on the export commodity selected at the station before. At start, all available stations are displayed.
New is the efficiency rating. TCE calculates for all stations a rating, depending on how big the difference is for the top sell/buy prices of commodities. Rating are high, med and low.

When selecting a station, the commodities appear on the right for the station, that can the bought and sold. Select your favorite and an "+" button appear behind the selected station.
Click on it to add the station with the selected commodities to the register.

Repeat the procedure to fill up the register. If you have selected a buy commodity, that is identical with your first listed station sell commodity, the route is completed.
Now you can save, preview and start the route.

Okay, thats all for the second preview. The release is aimed for the weekend, perhaps friday or earlier, depending, how many bugs are found.

The only thing I did was to open appconfig to view it using edit but I did not make any changes...

Could that be the problem?

If you have upgraded ED, dont start ED. Start TCE before ED and all changes are done to the new appconfig.xml. So, in your case, restart ED.
Check the FAQ, what to do, if ED got an update.
