Newcomer / Intro Reluctant to move on from Pilots federation beginner area

Nothing ventured, nothing gained
Nothing will ever feel the same
You've done your time, it's time to fly
Just ensure you've got re-buy
Venture forth to parts unknown
Perhaps you'll even find a home
There are things to see, and things to do
More than you'll see, if you stay where new
Get a scoop, and a map or two
A DSS, and good shields too
The Adder's fine, you've got the skills
Fly, now, fly, in search of thrills
Of data, credits and bounty kills
The time has come to spread your wings
In search of fun and Elite's best things
That....was awesome!

Thank you all for the information!
Yes, sorry for the delay, I took the leap....to everywhere. Right now, I feel like I've got so many goals, a lot I want to do from one end of the galaxy to the other.
This is a great experience, still learning a lot of in depth things such as trading and scanning but it's all progressing splendidly.

Take the time to enjoy it all, after all there are few if any deadlines in the game that aren’t set by ourselves.

tbh it is HORRIBLE - I just moved out and the missions available to me are OFTEN not available because I don't meet criteria and are not the 20-50k missions but thousands of K. So ignore them. the local missions for 50k - warning "expect to be attacked" and the quantity of missions is pitiful unless high ranked
What noobs like a I was - I mistakenly though that AY INDI which a PILOT'S FEDERATION was actually what the f'ing said. YOU GO TO A PILOT'S FEDERATION BASE and LOSE permit forever - BE WARNED. They need to fix that. Make it PF or NOT - SORT IT FRONTIER

You didn't read properly.

Ay Indi, Farkas Dock is controlled by Pilots' Federation - Local Branch https://eddb.io/faction/76748 - This is to keep Farkas Dock useable, immune from minor faction interference as it is the logical stepping-stone from the starter region.

Starter region systems are controlled by a separate entity - Pilots' Federation Administration. https://eddb.io/faction/76760

Do not confuse allegiance with minor faction name - both of the above hold allegiance to the Pilots' Federation which is completely separate from the Federation.

You can take any mission as long as your ship can handle it, ranks are just a guide. The bigger the reward the harder / more involved / more dangerous - you take your chance. What determines the missions open to you is your standing (reputation) with each of the minor factions. Run missions to gain rep and get better missions offered.

Basically, calm down and learn rather than fly off the handle because you misunderstood something.

So, should I be moving on or should I hang around a bit longer?
I stuck around the new pilots area a bit longer than 2 weeks and 20 million credits richer. As you, I was extremely reluctant to leave the area. That was 1.5 years ago and to this day I often wonder what intimidated me to wait that long? Actually it was all the talk about NPC pirates, open play griefers and Thargoids.
But once you leave it's a wee bit different from the safety and the confinement. Once you get out, things open up astronomically. There's definitely lots of cash to be made. Missions pay a lot more and there's a lot more opportunities.
Yes, leave, be cautious, there's no shame in it. Caution will turn into habit eventually it won't be caution anymore once your skills are honed.
I play in solo, I have no desire to deal with occasional but random griefers otherwise. I didn't invest in the game for that. Once you remove that element, it's relatively safe. Oh you'll get kaboomed a few times to start with. Make sure you always have at least twice your ships buy back. Eventually your skills and knowledge increase, you'll put together some fine ships. Eventually you'll get to the point where you can't remember the last time you got killed.
Before you know it you'll have made your first billion credits.

You don’t have to use the mission board, it is possible to make anything from enough money to keep going to enough money to make a top footballer jealous depending on what you do, but it is much more straightforward doing missions.

It is important to read all the mission briefing carefully especially high value missions or ones higher ranked than you are, if the mission is a couple of ranks higher and says Hostile forces may be sent against you those hostile will be based on the mission rank not yours, if the mission is a very highly paid delivery mission double check things like the in system distance to the destination station there are stations that take over half an hour to reach.

TO Keep it as a stepping stone as usable? What? All the systems are usable until they're not or require permits. This is not about that - this is named to trick people out.
You see - a player that has not been playing a long time sees "Ay Indi, Farkas Dock is controlled by Pilots' Federation - Local Branch" and sees "Pilots' Federation" as allegiance in EDDB kinda assumes it's Pilot's Federation - it GOES WITH THE WORDS PILOT'S FEDERATION. There is NO warning. You just get the permit ripped from you.
It is gameplay to do that and needs fixing - people should be warned if going to a non-Pilot's Federation system just as they are for Anarchy systems in the FSD. I was going to a Pilot's Federation place to get a ship - nothing. As soon as I docked. BAM. Apparently Pilot's Federation laid a trap and you are NOW NOTHING to us. From ALLIED. What a joke.

If this upsets you that much, I'd hate to see what happens if you run against one of the other features in the game. E.g. the dynamic BGS - or the volume tax. Or you accept a well paying mission to Alpha Centauri.

The only way for you to get back that starter region permit, if you desire it that much, is to reset your CMDR. Back to zero. amd start over again.

Some folks aren't cut out for this game, that's all. When I started playing there was no newbie zone. My ship did not come with a docking computer, nor supercruise assist. And I was 65 years old.

I loved the whole experience. It was a learning challenge, and not an easy one. It took me months just to get a Vulture (credits were a bit harder to come by back then).

When I discovered that my reputation with a local faction dramatically increased the payouts, I was overjoyed. I ran missions for the same folks until they loved me and started paying good money. I learned to handle a bit of combat, enough to do some CGs and slowly work my way to a Python.

After that, the money started rolling in (not like it does today, but for the time period).

I got frustrated at times, of course, but never angry or mad at the developers. Because this is my kind of game, I guess :)

Anyway, don't worry about leaving the newbie area. It's actually very restricting to be there (I've got 2 alts and sometimes restart just to experience it, so I know what it's like nowadays, too).

Get out there! It's a big galaxy, with a huge amount to learn and do. If you're the patient type :p

Dunno what the fascination with staying in the Newbula is, unless it's just to learn to fly your ship, which makes a lot of sense. Didn't have it either when I started, so maybe it's me.

The pay in the newbula sucks, the equipment is crap, the things you can do are beyond limited and if the prospect of a "cutthroat galaxy" waiting outside is daunting, then just leave and stay in Solo until you feel more confident. The NPCs aren't going to be much of a threat for long as long as you don't accept Elite rated missions in your E-rated Sidey.

Nothing wrong with learning the game in Solo, and outside the Newbula you can do anything, really anything. No restrictions. You set your own pace.

So my advice is: Get out as soon as you can. And ditch the docking computer. You'll need to learn to land without one pretty soon, and every chance to do something that makes your more confident in flying your ship is one you should take. Plus, you get an extra slot for useful stuff. :)

Bit of an old thread, OP probably has 3 'Condas by now...

My little Hauler got ganked just outside the no fire zone by a naughty cmdr in an Adder the last time I was in the starter system. He probably should have started his assault sooner as I jumped before I even lost a ring and he probably got in trouble...

So you're actually probably safer leaving the starter systems as soon as you can really. It's not safe from npc's either, been pulled over while doing first contracts before...
