Remember the first time being IN the ship?

It is still amazing every time I put on the Rift. Especially if I haven't played for a week or so.
First reactions were kinda like this... :)

My first reaction was to ignore the front window of my Asp and go to the side windows, sit down and just look outside. It was glorious.

I still get that feeling after a year in VR with the Rift CV1. The physical presence of the ship is just incredible.

I returned today, from a 72.000 lightyear trip, as i had never experienced Sagittarius A* in VR. Definitely worth a visit, if you havent seen it in "true space". :)

I'm constantly looking around the inside of my ships these days. Plus looking out the windows is super great. Especially when leaning forward or sideways to track passing objects. Feels completely real.

Flimley

I have TrackIR as well and it is pretty awesome but I switch to VR a few weeks ago and it blows TrackIR away in my opinion.

With ease and by far. I played on a 55" TV before switching to VR... Never touched the game in 2.5 D ever again, after wearing the HMD once.

Agreed. I had an EDTracker which I enjoyed a lot, but man, does the OR blow these thing out of the water. Edtracker and TrackIR is still just a flat screen. In VR I am litereally in my ship and going back to 2D is a real jolt and I don't like it.

I spend a lot of time looking around the inside of the cockpit, and out the window in various directions. One of the first things I had to do was to turn off the "look at" for all of the UI panels. I have HOTAS buttons mapped to opening the panels, and greatly prefer it this way. The problem is that since I look around so much, those panels can get in the way, and they can steal focus from you're trying to do with the controls, particularly if you have various HOTAS buttons mapped for UI controls as well as in-flight controls. ;) Turning off the look-at was one of the best things I did.

Same here, I think it only took about an hour of playing in VR before I turned them off.

It was and is awesome, but Lone Echo takes immersion to a whole new level for me.

In the Oculus advert there's a moment where the player lifts up the headset with an amazed look and slowly exhales...whhhew.

That's where I had that moment.

Lone Echo is amazing and a really good example of what VR can be. I loved everything about it, I only wish the game was longer.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PB9ZrBSNg_4[/] I was utterly amazed. I had high expectations that I'd been trying to rain in but it was better than I expected and I still get a wow from it now (I normally play only at weekends).

I've come to the conclusion that some ships are far more believable than others and when I use them it takes me back to that first VR moment more. The AspX, Sidewinder and Cobra do it most of me; especially the Cobra.

For me it was yesterday! I have played all my elite on the xbox and recently bought a gaming PC and Rift. I rebought elite on sale yesterday and loaded it up. I couldn't believe my eyes. I am still in awe of the feeling of being there. Its how I imagined elite was when I played it back on my BBC micro when I was eleven years old.
