Remove canopy RNG integrity

As the title say, currently the canopy integrity and if it gets blasted in the first few hits are highly randomized.

Remove said RNG or increase the integrity along with hull integrity, or add a possibility to reinforce the canopy.

What could also work is that the MRPs also have an effect on it.

Please, it is starting to become silly with the damn meta of PA+Rail FDLs always blowing out the canopy first!

have you considered that people are just aiming that well and its not RNG at all?

in my hull tank cobra i never had my canopy blown because of rails, people couldn't land direct hits on my ship very well

The issue appears on the ships that have the canopy exposed enough, which is not the case on a Cobra.

The biggest problem is that superpen rails have the interesting ability to hit your canopy even when facing away from you opponent.

I guess it also depends highly on who you are fighting. if it's random rail users or people who have a certain practice with them.

In any case, the canopy integrity and how and if it blows is highly randomized, I am not the only one with that opinion.

Even a Chieftain with its high hull HPs suffers from that, which can end a fight even if the Chief has 90% hull left.

to be honest i wish frontier would give us military canopies.

canopies that would put armor shudders over the canopy when weapons were deployed and then throw up a heads-up display of what is outside the canopy.

the armor shudders would have to be destroyed first before the canopy could be blown.

it would make hull tank builds just that much more viable

Suffice to say i never thought the canopy breaking was random, but its interesting to know that it is.

That would be a solution, but having the module reinforcements or the hull integrity have an effect on canopy integrity might be easier to implement.

But as with most things affecting PvP, it might fall into "lowest priority" category...

That's a feature, not a problem.

They actually model the path of projectiles and modules hit are determined by hitbox and position so not it's not random at all.

I'm fairly certain the only RNG factors here are latency/latency compensation (which can influence where a shot lands) and penetration chance.

If a shot or splash damage intersects the canopy and the penetration chance succeeds, the canopy takes the damage the shot delivers, which is not random. Canopy integrity is not random either.

Rails are doing what they are supposed to do. They will penetrate all the way through many ships, and the superpenetrator mod will make it so interceding modules don't stop the shot.

Also, the MRP already protects the canopy, as do hull resistances and armor hardness.

I was farily sure that the projectile paths were modeled and not random

They are.

However the game is very nearly asynchronous (it has to be, due to the huge spectrum of latencies involved; which average about ten times as high, for me, as I'd find acceptable in a shooter without latency compensation), so what each participant sees is usually slightly different.

I have always been surprised there are canopies in space at all. A heavily armored command center with a hud that looks like a canopy is how I see it.
