Out for a while?... Less than a month and you want to remove the DRM and crack protection?

Do you own the game? [removed due to discussing piracy]
If you want to support the devs and get more great content, go BUY the game!

The rumours that Denuvo reduces performance are bull

I own it, but they aren't rumors, it's just how Denuvo works. Everyone who is trying out Doom after Denuvo was removed has seen performance increases. [removed due to discussing piracy]

One of the lead programmers for Frontier has in the past compared the with-Denuvo and the without-Denuvo builds of the game, and said that there was no discernible difference in performance. I tend to believe him, but I guess that time will tell on this one.

I am with you. There is no game that is fully crack proof, but Denuvo helps slow it down. Everytime I see a post saying that they want Denuvo removed, I think to myself, "I wonder what is the real reason they want it removed, hmmm!"

there is a team already cracking Denuvo games and it's only a matter of time. Maybe Frontier will get their money back in the process.

lol even if it got cracked they wont be able to access steam workshop or any add-ons that may release, if you own it you should not want to support that "team"

With out any actual data, it's all speculation. Since no developer will openly speak out against Denuvo or show their data, there is no way of knowing. We don't know what it does, how much space it takes up or if it does anything outside it's purpose. What we can see is how games are affected once it has been removed and so it looks like it's for the best.

The accusations are that Denuvo encrypts and decrypts constantly onto your hard drive, but that's not true. It's a one time 64bit encryption which is unique to your hardware. Of course, it will be cracked at some point. Not familiar with the Doom Denuvo situation, but sounds like backlash for backlash's sake to stop developers using Denuvo.

The industry seems to submit to pirates after a certain period (Once it's cracked). I don't think PC is out of the honeymoon period just yet to justify removing the crack protection.
As you can probably tell, I am very much against pirating games. I support frontier in any endeavours to prevent their game being pirated.

Fair enough, I see your point of view. I too want to see the best for Frontier, and don't want them to lose money or have their game pirated. The problem Denuvo is being cracked and it's only a matter of time, and if that's the case, then just tell us what the performance difference is WITH DATA.

then just tell us what the performance difference is WITH DATA.

I believe AndyC has done that already over on the Steam hub. I'll see if I can find it. [happy]

EDIT: Found it! There's multiple posts from Andy in that thread about Denuvo, and there's no better person to ask than the man himself who has been in communication with the company and uses their product. http://steamcommunity.com/app/493340/discussions/0/343785380896812856/?ctp=2#c343785574516476959

what do you think is going to happen, the game will get pirated and everybody will stop buying bcuz of a few extra FPS over workshop + other addons?

I have had zero performance issues with the Denuvo protected versions of Doom, Rise of the Tomb Raider.

If you're going to tear into Denuvo, be smart and go after their immensely suspect pedigree, not with made up nonsense about thei lr hooks causing performance issues. They don't. Denuvo makes its anti tamper calls at developer-chosen, low-load point in the code of the game's executable. It's just about as efficient as all get up. Like I've said before though, I have trust issues with a company made from people that used to install rootkits on people's PCs.

All that thread you linked has told me how foolish people are and are grumbly they get when they don't understand and bull headed when they are given the answer. Honestly would just like to kindly tell them to "Get Lost" in a few more words if it's such an issue [big grin]
