Remove power plant as a separate targetable ship component

Being able to target the power plant on the larger ships is borderline broken and feels like cheating to me.

On anything Python size and up it makes fighting NPC pilots laughably easy, and removes any incentive to target any other part of the ship. In reality such a vital ship component would be buried so far inside the ship that you would have to destroy most of the outer parts to get to it, but in ED it seems to be stuck on the exterior of some ships.

It feels like using an aimbot in an FPS. Just target the PP and blast away until every other part of the enemy ship stops working. IMO the PP should be removed from the list of targetable components. Does anyone bother targeting anything else? I'd like to know.

"value"

What value is there of sticking one of your most vulnerable and important parts of your ship on the outside where anyone can target it as soon as they get your shields down?

I was thinking a similar thought earlier, but cos I post so many ideas, I didn't bother. Lol

But seems as you mentioned it....
My idea was to give the PP a major buff in armour, based on size/class. Plus, make it more difficult to actually get a good hit on it. (Narrow angle of attack)
But in return, damaging/destroying other modules will cause feedback to the PP and damage it.
How much feedback damage needs to be balanced, but it should probably be connected to power draw and rating of the module under fire.
So targeting weapons, shields, capacitors etc would be more effective than just targetting the PP alone, or low power draw modules.

Would make combat more interesting that just popping away at the PP until it explodes.
It would also mean the other subsystems have a reason to be targeted.

I like it! Obviously it must be possible to be able to damage the PP otherwise the whole power priority system would become pointless, and indirectly damaging the PP as a consequence of damaging other systems seems like a good solution
