I am sure if we nitpick we can find some places where scientists need balancing, but most of it is player error. I also notice people have a habit of not upgrading their Staff Centers and hiring as many scientists as quick as possible. If you are doing this they can quickly become a huge money sink and place you in the red. That is what I love about the system, its one of the few systems in the game with this level of freedom and control. It allows you to fail and arrange your priorities however you see fit.
The bad grammar and awkward sentence structure of their bios is the only thing that really bothers me, but that is less of a systems problem and more of a writer issue.
Having an option to disable scientists for Sandbox should have been in there from the start, that's the one place they don't need to be a requirement.
