Remove the watching blast doors lower game

Please keep the 10 second animation! Its just enough time for me to turn around to my missus, look like I just heard what she just said and come up with suitable one word answer. Saved my bacon plenty of times lol.

In fairness it doesn't bother me either way and I don't get huge amounts of time to play between work, looking after toddlers and planning my wedding. I think there are bigger things to sort in game.

Yes those moments are actually good, wether it's to respond to the missus or reposition the cat and open up another can of beer. :) *sigh* I really need to cut down on ED...

Because of what Major Lag says above me.
Which is not much is it? Let take a look at the larger ships. They can hold more cargo, They have more Weapons or Compartments slots then smaller ship. Which might require a little more time to run . Then we also have to look at internet connection speed and graphics which could take longer for the server or player to run.

We can look at Hyperspace which is also hiding loading screen the background plus exiting from supercruse into a station also take a bit of loading up.

Your not making sense again, the large ships have no wait time, the medium ones do. Why do the medium ships with less cargo, weapons and compartments take longer? Besides the obvious issue that everything is already loaded anyway since I just landed on the pad and can still see everything, its not a loading screen.

Hyperspace is loading another instance, another star system, and a completely different place.

Turning the ship around on the landing pad loads nothing, it's only there for immersion.

There is no reason whatsoever for any ship type taking more or less time for the blast shields to lower. Not a single one.

It's funny how realistic some parts are, but other not. Just one click and you get loaded/repaired/rearmed/refueled but when it's time to leave you have to get rotated around in real time for some reason.

For a fix, have the graphic spin happen right after landing, while you're opening the menu to trade or whatever. Then, you can just launch when ready.

I totally agree with the request to make the blast doors lower faster or at least earlier, after all they serve no purpose during take-off or the time the ship is docked.

At landing the only reason to have them would be if someone was waiting to unload the cargo back there and there was a risk of the thrusters of a ship hurting people and/or equipment (maybe the little cargo transport vehicles in a station?). But as cargo is unloaded instantly with the click of a button it seems pointless to argue for that.

To say that the problem is solved by doing your trading while the ship enters the hangar and planning your route during surfacing serves no point in my opinion, as it is not a solution to everyone. Certainly not to me anyway, as I am often much faster to select my next target and am annoyed by the fact that something so useless and immersion breaking is wasting my time.

If it is no problem to you, fine. But for some players who play traders a lot of the time it is just like there was a loading screen where you can do nothing useful. That's the case for me anyway and I feel like this part of the game is what I hate most at the moment.

I don't mind it personally. If anything, i'd actually would like a longer, more-involved startup/takeoff procedure. Something active though, like systems to be started/warmed up in order, etc, as opposed to additional blast shield watching.

Why aren't ship lights mandatory for landing/takeoff procedures by the way?

Turn on pre-flight checks and you can have your long take off procedures.

As a "while you're at it" request, can we have the drop/turn done a few seconds after we land? Those of us who have stuff to do can get on with it while it happens or if we select "Station Services" then "Outfitting" immediately, it drops us into the hangar below as it does now. That way, we are already turned around ready for launch by the time we exit the commodities screen.

There are indeed a couple of animations in the game that make no sense and should be removed. The blast shields serve no purpose They would if the the landing pads were not for vertical landing and lift-off, but they are. Also: On outposts, there is no apparent need for the landing pad to rotate before it lets you lift off again. That's just the same animation from the coriolis starport, and there it actually makes sense, because they want you to face the exit opening. On an outpost, there is no opening. The landing pads are out in the open. And since you lift off vertically, they don't need to turn you around for that. Let alone move some useless blast shields that serve no purpose anyway.

And don't forget that the empty pad does the same drop-turn-raise animation after you take off, which makes even less sense.
It seems that devs didn't bother to make several proper animations and just reused the same one.

You see, for some of us roleplayers, such things are really immersion-breaking, because we cannot suspend our disbelief as much as you can. If something doesn't make sense, AND also takes away from our time that we are actually able to PLAY the game (and not watch something utterly uninteresting happen in the game), we tend to dislike that.

This!

I've been flying around trading lately and now, i can completely agree with this request!

Was holding on to my Type 7 for a couple of weeks and now i'm on a Python. I really liked how those "blast doors" worked on the large landing pads and i'm starting to hate them on the medium pads now...

Please, can we have the same (large landing pad) blast door behavior on all pads? Pretty please? :(
