Repair Limpets

Heat Sink synthesis requires manufactured materials, which means you can't gather those materials while you are out in deep space.
But, mats have no weight, and having just a few reloads worth in stock before you leave on your trip means you only need one heat sink launcher and the odds are that you won't need it very often anyway.

My DWE Asp is equipped with 2 Heat Sink Launchers and I'm down the last Heat Sink - with only ever having fired one. The other were lost to malfunctioning HSL while overheating in critical situations.

So yeah, I had my hopes up a little to be able to re-stock via synthesis and was a little disappointed when it became clear, that materials are required that I naturally don't have aboard and can't gather out here. But then again, I never expected/hoped the game would make our life out here any easier, so I'm ok with that and will keep my last Heat Sink close.

Yeah. HSLs tend to absorb heat damage first which is a good reason to continue carrying multiple launchers even if you can refil them.
When I landed on HD 49368 (1), I lost about half of my heat sinks due to malfunction. In the end, all of my launchers were empty and down to 0% but all of my other modules were still functional.

I tend not to try those kinds of landings though when I'm out on a long trip carrying a lot of exploration data. On my Trip to Sag A, I needed my HSL only once when I dropped in between two very close stars and was at 110% heat before I even knew what was happening. Another time I ejected one by accident.

Is a 1D controller viable on an Anaconda?

I am taking my Annie out on her first long voyage after being a long time AspX pilot. It is, shall we say, taking a while to adjust to the extra mass and weak thrusters and I have had a couple of "heavy landings". I have walked away from them, but sparks flew.

I would plan to carry no limpets and JIT synthesise them.

If, purely hypothetically, I have, say... 70% hull after one of these "heavy" landings, would a 1D controller be up to the job?

1D will work. See my original post. It will just take more limpets to make the repairs. 12-13 points of damage per limpet.
Of course, my testing was in Beta and I haven't done any testing since the patch, so YMMV.

1D will work, you'll just have to be patient. I tried using one after getting shot up by a Thargoid, and one limpet repaired only about 3% of my hull, but I also have an engineered reinforcement on the exploraconda. I haven't tested further than this, though.

EDIT: I think I tested with a 3D, actually. This might need some more experimentation.
