Repeat the same Guardian unlock 18 times? Really?

Great an old 80s game. Just what we needed.

What i wanted and bought the game for was an updated version of FFE with the possilbility of coop play.

I got that, in spades. Which is why I love ED, warts and all.

But its all getting a bit off topic.

On-topic - yes, this all seems a bit silly.

What FD could have done is that each site gives something different, and you need all of those things to unlock the various modules. So there would be no repeating the same site. Also 18 seems excessive, let's say half a dozen different guardian doo-dahs, fly to 6 separate sites, do the quest thingy, then you are done. Return to the bubble, unlock.

.. this logic sounds good to me :) +rep

You know what the worst part is?

FDev are screwed, here, whatever they do.

They're catching a lot of flak for making this such a repetitive operation and if they do anything to reduce the required effort they're going to catch a lot more flak from all the people who already made the required effort.

Also, here's a pic' of me as "The Dragon of Turtle Ruin", because spending days alone in the bouncy buggy is enough to drive anybody a bit potty.

Way to reasonable.

I don't think ANYONE would complain if they changed that!

Nah. If you actually went through that process, it was obviously out of a love of your own game, and nothing to do with rational decision making. So you don't get to complain.

I don't think so, it's possible those who already went through the torture of grinding the ruins a few dozen times don't want other people to endure the same kind of suffering they did.

By the time you get to the site, you just want to quit after the jump, honk, jump honk grind marathon. I find travelling from starting point to destination the most torturous grind.

It's possible, but not really in line with some of the stuff I've seen coming from the community after such a change.

Hopefully this will make over 20 pages, and an FD employee might actually respond.

Maybe they'll talk about this in a livestream.

It's terrible and has utterly destroyed possibly my favourite bit of the game they've added since release.

It’s difficult to understand. ...With so many new Guardian weapons and modules up for grabs. Why make everyone repeat what should be a single task/puzzle 18-20 times for a blueprint? And repeat that for every other weapon/module. (If I understand this correctly?)
I can only surmise its to somehow delay/stretch out this particular content as long as possible ?

Flimley

It's such a big bummer that FD could've made this into something cool.

The Guardians, mysterious, intelligent and facing the same problem in their time as we do now, the Thargoids.
New sites, new knowledge about a lost culture.
FD could've shared that excitement and the fruits of that new knowledge with the whole community at the expense of some effort.
Instead they lock everything behind a grindwall putting everybody off, taking away all joy and engagement.

I don't mean that they should've just given us the weapons and modules, I'm not for freebees but clubbing us numb with boring grinds is exact the opposite.
Cost and reward is way out of balance imho, plus it diminishes the cool story the Guardians could be.
Wouldn't it be much more fun if every player could enjoy those new weapons and modules?
Or was it on purpose that only those who can bring themself to mind numbing gameplay will benefit of what we've learnt from the Guardians?

Imho if those special weapons and modules were more accessible then the Guardians would be a much more interesting aspect in the game, for a much larger number of players.

Yup, the sheer amount of repetition is insulting. I am willing to bet my soul that most of the highest paid at Frontier would refuse to unlock all eighteen blueprints using only player accessible tools. Although I love this game, I have quit playing until truly fun mechanics arrive. I would much rather have a player controlled market where you could buy all blueprints or any other game items for in game credits even though gold mining may result. A player controlled market may bring on things nefarious, but I bet player attrition would decrease. An open market would at the least give us more play options than sheer repetition or truly boring game loops.

From what I can see of the new Guardian weapons, they require 18 weapon blueprints.
With the "fix" introduced by ED, I see that we now get a whole 1 material per run through of the Weapon Blueprint unlock.
Implications are very easy, please player, go REPEAT this section another 18 times.

I get that Elite has a degree of grind in it, after all that's how you get to Elite. But 18 more times, of the same thing.

Are you trying to say "go forth and play DCS my young padawan".

Rubbish, isn't it, I'm a Beliver in the importance of missions to the game, especially for the solo (in open) player. I do think the missions system and it's relative importance and team need a good kick up.
