Replace solo and group with protected areas.

Instead of splitting players between Solo/Group/Open put all of them into one bag. I know that some players wants to participate in the content without risk of PVP but it can be solved easily!
For example use Law Enforcement Unit to "disable" PVP in Community Goal area - if someone attack someone else he will be taken down by Law Enforcement. In areas regarded to Thargoids base, Thargoid technology should "disable" weapon systems? Is it solvable? Yes! The clue is the to replace splitting with protecting strict PVE activities. Next step will be splitting and dividing content between PVP and PVE - like Community Goals for PVE players and new features "Faction Wars" for PVPers. For PVPer not only gameplay matters but also "winning" and the best way to win Community Goal is to participate in it via Solo :(. So the current content is not playable as PVP content sadly. Even if it is considered as content for everyone it is not functioning well as PVP content.

Purpose of this topic is not to remove Solo/PVE style of gameplay but rather to offer the same experience in different way, more mmo styled.

Finally, remember systems and content designed both for PVE and PVP wont work well and wont be fully satisfying for at least PVP players.

Not sure what your definition of PvP is, but for most people competing at PvE (CGs, BGS) does not fulfill that definition. So trying to "win" (= score at the top tier, I suppose?) at a CG has nothing at all to do with PvP, in fact it is rather something catering to the achiever player archetype, not the killer archetype.

I'll repeat myself, if that's not an issue, on behalf of all solo/RPers/antisocial weirdos like me :

We know what online interactions are.

We know what PVP is.

We know what multiplayer is.

We Are Not Interested.

Starting another thread on the same matter every day with a slightly-different-but-already-suggested-anyway proposition won't get your cause anywhere. You cannot propose a solution that would force everyone in the same world without frustrating a great many people. People far smarter than either of us have tried, and decided that, in the most successful cases, PVPers must absolutely be put in a box where they can't force other players, and RPers in their own box, so no-one can bother them either.

Most successful MMO of all time? WoW, by a landslide. Its handling of multiplayer : Separated PVP/PVE/RPPVP/RPPVE servers.

Some people will ruin other people's day, whatever the circumstances ; it's not just a matter of "rules" or mechanics.

Seriously, the game's actually great, all it lacks is an open/PVE mode for most of the group players to enjoy eachother far from the rampaging murder-hobos. Don't waste your time on an idea that's beed discussed to death ; all you've been saying in your previous posts is just revisiting ideas that were discussed and discarded.

It will be great if Frontier will introduce separate PVP/PVE worlds still they wont. From the other hand, the PVP and PVE content is separated, for example Battleground it is clear PVP content. In Elite we have CZs? or maybe CGs? which are not separated. Addition of true PVP mode should solve most of the problems related to solo vs open ;p

Mostly it's for their own safety.

Many of the PVP-pew-pew-crew don't understand what PVP really is, and their parents would get most upset at having to go back to Argos every week to purchase a new internet box :D

How about no. Unless you can explain where Frontier is going to get the money to refund the majority of its player base...

Bigger Problem is honestly said that this Game from the Start is just not Designed as an MMO.

Even basic functions like player to player trade only works by circumventing the system and dropping cargo. Needless to say it works only with cargo you cant even trade money.
Stations are very limited in landing pads so more than 3 players in an instance are already pretty uncomfortable.
There is no Balancing to Protect New Players and both Piracy as well as Law Enforcement basicly dont exist.
Neither is ther any option for Escorts or something cause sticking to someone in Supercruise is next to Impossible. Even more so if someone is Interdicted.
Combat in General is very monotone due to the fact that all Ships are Armed Frontal and Turrets are so massively weaker that using anything but frontal weapons makes no sense.

In total.
Sorry but this is a Single Player Game by Design.
Its Multiplayer Function is more of an gadged with limited support.

That's nice, so there will be 399,999,999,000 protected systems for us explorers because we are the PVE players also, the PVP'ers can play around in the remaining 1,000. Yes I like that, give them a thousand systems set up for PVP, with destructible bases and open combat and everything they want, make sure it's well away from the bubble and anything to do with PVE like thargoids and make the rest of the galaxy protected, they can have their own little arena to themselves, congratulations problem solved!

Of course we will still need group and solo for the people who don't want to interact with strangers, but that's ok, as long as we can fence in the PVP'ers I'm fine with that.

(waiting.....waiting......)

Nope, sorry. OP, I understand what you'd like to accomplish, but PVP is not the only thing (or even the main thing) which keeps me in Solo. When I'm in a Player Group, I find myself doing more chatting than playing. I'd rather just play the game and not be distracted by others.

So, paraphrasing: "Force all solo and group players into open, which will be exactly the same as it is now outside of a couple of systems and a few specific surface sites".

Basically, remove solo and PG, and have Uber Security in a load of places?

Sounds like Eve Online to me. :p

I actually prefer ED how it is. I use all 3 modes based on my mood, time to play and goals.

•Saving up for something big? I'll go to Mobius.
•Not feeling like dealing with other players/lag? Or off to work soon? Solo.
•Bored? Open shenanigans!

Another solution is to create PVP content available only in Open, and created only for PVP purpose.

No, I think all PvP content needs to be locked to solo only. :p

(Sorry, I'm in one of those moods today!)

I'd be happy with a CQC/Oblivion style tournament system being in place in ED. That'd be amazing. Proper "bring your own ship" PvP tournaments, as well as fixed loadout matches. Winners win prizes. Losers don't lose anything. :)

Frontier have not implemented any permanent content restricted to a single game mode - most recently evidenced by the implementation of multi-crew in both multi-player modes.

.... and no, the three game modes, as implemented in accordance with Frontier long-standing design, are fine with me as they are - no need to change them (or their respective influences on the BGS, CGs, Powerplay, etc.).
