Reports Received: Capital Ships Preventing Commanders From Receiving Combat Bonds

Greetings Commanders.

It's been noted on many fronts that there has been some concern and questioning around combat bond rewards for kills made around Capital Ships.

  • "The new experimental capital-class ships are able to inflict damage to Thargoids making it possible for them to deliver the killing blow to the scouts and interceptors but by doing so, the players won't get any combat bonds regardless of their participation."
You'll now notice that this ticket has been closed 'By Design'.

As stated in the information provided on closure:
The team enabled Capital Ships to be viable receivers of kill credits, to help as mitigation against afk-farming exploits.
Whilst this has caused some frustration in the form of reports and discussions around the subject matter, the team are fully aware of your feedback and are taking it onboard.
There are no plans to address this currently, just wanted to inform you that it has been discussed.

The efforts out there in HIP 22460 are monumental right now.
It's incredible to watch so many Commanders contribute to the unfolding event, with major efforts all totaling up.

@sallymorganmoore IMHO, just a message on chat that informs CMDRs about that should be enough.
I'm usually successful in delivering the killing blow after I noticed how it works, but I lost some bonds before figuring it out.

On the flip side of your comment, I'm really jealous of how skilled you clearly are in combat...I just...well...

Oh, I'm pretty sure that if You just asked, You would find dozens of crazily skilled AXI pilots happy to train You into being a virtuoso of bug hunting ;)
All goids would just tell the stories of "Pink Terror" that lurks in the dark.

So I just equipped my "Hazards" in hope I can blinker them to death but...

Understandable that Commanders wouldn't want them taking all the credit though, for sure.

Thanks for the clear answer. This'll change my tactics a little bit as far as engaging Thargoids near the capital ships, but landing the killing blow is doable enough with this information in mind.

AFK Farming Thargoids? I would like to see the Build although I don't think it would work. I've lost 7 ships and lots of bounties, but I think the Capital ships should Blowup occasionally

Thanks for this explanation, Sally. Sincerely thankful for understanding what caused this to happen.
While this sounds like it was a good design move for human CZs containing capitol ships, it’s not the right policy for AX CZs now that they can contain cap ships.

Firstly, afk bond farming with thargoids shooting in the CZ is… well id like to see somebody try. This is massively different from human CZs so they shouldn’t be treated the same.

Second, it’s easy to avoid your kill being stolen by the cap ship in a human cz because sustained fire is about all it takes to kill human ships. Again, thargoid interceptors aren’t the same and this system is clearly not working since it wasn’t even noticed being in place until now that thargoids got involved.

Third, the bonds lost if a human ship gets finished off by the cap ship in a cz is relatively low. It doesn’t seem to happen much, if at all, and when it does it’s not tens of millions being stolen.
On the other hand here I have cap ships steeling my medusa and hydra kills to the tune of 40 million and 60 million a pop.

The difference between human cz and ax cz cap ships is clear and the fact that it’s causing a problem now should be clear, too.
It isn’t the same situation, so Hopefully we can get this changed to a more reasonable policy. It’s been a real bummer to have these awesome new thargoid combat instances but not be able to enjoy them because they aren’t working in a propeller way.

Fair enough!
Now teach to those capital gunners to target Regenerators first!
They also need to stop falling for being dragged many KM away from the cap ship.
And hit those hearts guys. Not by accident, hit them on purpose.

Right, they also need to learn to rearm or bring more ammo.
We need to start a fund for them to buy shutdown field neutralizers and teach them to use decon limpets.
