[Request] Cockpit lighting

Hello

I'm sure it has been asked before for many times, but is it possible to make the cockpit lights brightness adjustable, just like the HUD brightness? Or make the function to switch interior lights off completely (if the light nodes aren't actually imbedded in the ship's interior mesh).

Also, it would be nice to have an option to automatically switch to red lighting when the ship is under attack, hardpoints are deployed in combat mode and/or when silent running is on. Just like on the submarines! After all, we already have a similar thing on a Cutter, which exterior lights are switching to red when hardpoints are active.

Your thoughts Commanders?

Yeah, I've been hoping to have a toggle, to either switch the lights on/off altogether, or switch between bright and dim.

Right now one of my favorite cockpits is the Python, partially because it stays dark and has dark non-reflective surfaces. Brighter cockpits could benefit from turning the lights off. And likewise, darker cockpits might enjoy the option of turning the lights up occasionally.

in addition to this id even go as far to say as giving us more customizability over our cockpit lights such as the option between incandecents, LED's, CFL's ect
and not these stupid "String lights" they keep putting in the store.
No pilot is going ot have that impending flight risk hanging around their cockpit/cabin/bridge.

1) I'm sure it has been asked before for many times,
2) Just like on the submarines!

Hi there commander,
1) yes it has but there's no harm in asking again, but why did you start a new thread about it and not used the search to revive that old thread? If a thread gets 100+ answers it will get the dev's attention sooner than a new thread with -again- the same question...obvious no?
2) No, on submarines there are no lights going to red...IN submarines yes there is :p
I agree with you with the lighting, but we should be able to toggle "lights off" in general...like in a car or truck, i want it all as dark as possible inside @ night. With all these lights you would be able to see just nothing outside, bad game mechanics but needed for some players.

Yes it has been asked before. Lots of times.

FDev have not only ignored those requests in the past, they've actively added new cockpit designs with even MORE bright lights everywhere shining in your face.

Whoever is in charge of the cockpit designs obviously has mandated "light up the Cmdr for vanity-cam shots" and not "make realistic-seeming spaceship cockpits".

Imagine you were desiging a spaceship. You want the pilot to be able to see where they are going right? Thats why you shine lights in their face. Its engaging :D

I thought the asp design was particularly masterful. Unless you know how to edit fov those two lights will bob just in and out of your vision as the ship moves. Its quite upsetting. I congratulate who ever designed that :)

Cobra III has me fumbling for matches and a candle. I know dimmer dials were a bit of a fad back in the day, but might we retro-introduce them to the 34th century.

...and lava lamps; lava lamps are always making a comeback. If I'm flying in a dusty, poorly lit, room as I was in my early twenties can I please have a lava lamp to go with the narcotics. It's nostalgic don'tcha know.
