Request - Insane RES

Can we have an extreme RES site added somewhere in the game? A place where the enemy automatically target us with no help from "police forces".

It can use a similar mechanic to the CZs in ceasefire mode, but with added credits and minor faction influence support.

For instance, if you go into a CZ that's in ceasefire and attack one ship, all ships of that side will target you and focus their fire on you. The "allied" ships do nothing. I used the mechanic to complete massacre missions, but if it was put into a RES as a regular feature, it would be great.

Perhaps the "allied" ships can be removed and have only hostiles in the instance.

Thanks for reading.

Me again. Lol

For Conflict Zones, how about they get labelled based on the balance of power there? I have no clue how you'd do that of course, seems as the ships are spawned after you arrive. Lol

But then you could have CZs which are 50/50, or 60/40, 75/25, 95/5 etc. You'd need a way to label them appropriately.
Then you can remove high and low CZs, and you basically just drop in to one that suits you.
Outnumber or outnumbered? (Or equal)

CZs could also do with listing the factions inside them, to help further.

Or, have "Staging Areas" near current CZs, which basically contain one of the two factions, who are mustering for combat. Just drop in, pick your side(which would be the opposite faction) and cause havoc.

Back on topic, we could still these super RESs in Unauthorised Installations.
There's currently no reason for an inexperienced pilot to go there, other than curiosity, so they would make the perfect backdrop to a RES type bounty hunting area.
Large wings of pirates, no help from security.

:)

I like the idea of Multicrew or more likely Winged RES environments, where 2+ Wings or Git Gud soloists can really test their mettle.

Contents are multiple wings of 3/5 ships. Only Deadly/Elite rated. Stuff that nightmares are made of.

Fixed.. lol

4 vs 3/5 isn't in any way a challenge, even 2 vs 5 is fine. I doubt even 15 would really be that difficult. Lol

Hello Commanders!

If we are talking about a desire for increased combat challenge, we still haven't pushed the button on engineered AI vessels.

Yet.

However, this is something we'd need to introduce carefully and in a controled manner, as such vessels can be quite... powerful.

He he, you could allow the original 2.1 AI in such a place as the OP is suggesting - that would be a real test of metal.

If possible, you should confine these Uber NPC's to something like an Unauthorised Installations or something?

Then just let us test how it goes, without then spilling out in to the world. Lol

This I can agree with, if they have there own space and we are informed, as we are these days, before going into anarchy systems; there can be no issue with the challenge.

Yes, the return of challenging NPCs with engineering modded ship builds would be great.

Perhaps a "Dangerous Mode" checkbox option could be added to the start menu.

For example:
OPEN
[ ] Dangerous Mode

PRIVATE GROUP
{ private grouip name }
[ ] Dangerous Mode

SOLO
[ ] Dangerous Mode

Or maybe a player’s Combat rank could be taken into consideration as to whether or not a Dangerous NPC will be encountered. Anarchy systems could be an exception to this. (if this is implemented a warning message could appear upon log-in to warn cmdrs who are 10,000+ly out to give them a heads up when they return to the bubble).

Another thing I'd like to add, which wasn't mentioned, but I'm going to bring up anyway...
Is making the NPC's simply take longer to kill (super engineered shields and hull), does not equate to a challenge.
It's a mistake made in another game, 7 Days To Die.
The zombies were considered "too easy" to kill, but they were unable to give them complex AI (because they're zombies), or increase the zombie count on screen (due to performance issues), so simply made them bullet sponges.
All this did was make it take an unreasonable amount of time to kill one. But it wasn't any harder (unless you ran out of ammo). It just became more efficient to leave them alone. Which obviously wasn't much fun. (It's mostly fixed now)

My idea of challenge is greater numbers(larger wings), better AI skills, and unexpected behaviour. And by unexpected behaviour, I mean, ships calling in backup, or unexpectedly chasing you (to supercruise, or another system) when you try to run. Or even your target fleeing to its own territory, so you must fight in its terms, not yours.
And having much less control over agro, especially with faction ships that you have a hostile reputation with.

Yep, this would be the way to go. Opt in challenge for those who so desperately need it. ;)

Indeed, a good point. :)

No thanks. RES's already feel artificial & game-y. I'd be cool with the RES mechanic being shifted to Ring-based refining facilities, of various size.....but the current system makes little to no sense to me, as they're more like a form of "farming".

You're absolutely correct. It's like farming because it is, in fact, farming. Low RES for new players. High and Haz for intermediates. I'm thinking of a farm for advanced players. Credit rewards can scale according to difficulty.

But I'm not suggesting adding depth to the game. That would take more effort than what I'm requesting. It's more like a fun activity.

Imagine an area that you can enter where there's a mob mentality. You scan one ship and if it's wanted, you open up on it. Immediately, every wanted ship there attacks you and the clean ships just mosey on their way without giving you any help. They might even get in your way here and there. You can farm credits and influence there, but trying to collect engineering mats would be insanely difficult.

Something like an SSS on steroids.

My engineering experiments are so far mixed. I don't see any benefit with level 3 unlock. Your mileage may differ.

Isn't the point of Engineers to give a cool effect and special stuff but have dampers and drawbacks that keep things in balance? Or are you saying here that Engineers area a "I win" gambit?

I think AI needs to always be beatable. Yes Elite NPC should be a challenge. But is this a game for players or some unachievable punishment. Any supreme AI NPC should be found only in specific areas and scenarios where advanced and young twitch players stand a chance and old farts have a chance to steer clear.
