Requesting feedback regarding 'part time' players

It seems everyone is misunderstanding the point here. I'm not looking for an 'instant win' button. I'm not looking for something where i can directly take on the players who have put in many more hours in the game than myself. Moreso, what I'm looking for is something like a difference between offline play and online play. Where there is a scalable difficulty for an 'offline mode' that doesn't affect competitive online play.

Then you're looking for a game that's not an MMO :p

Offline play is not happening. You're talking about a new game now.

Form of entertainment does not mean you get exactly what you want. You get something that entertains you - or not.

Cheers mate, can I have your address? Need to send you the bill to have my desk cleared of this coffee I just spluttered over it.

Do you even know what you want as you keep contradicting your statements.
Off line will not happen. There is a three year thread on it.
On line there is solo. No commanders in Cutters there...until you get one.

Not contradicting what I've said, just offered possible solutions. The kind of thing i want has always been something like a scalable difficulty. If it doesn't affect other players, what reason is there against a CMDR flying whatever ship they want?

Because you aren't getting a game that lets you magically change all variables you want.

Even Solo play in Elite is multiplayer. It's the same universe, but it stops you seeing other human CMDRs. The intention is that everything you do is part of the BGS; everything you sell affects a market, every ship you destroy harms a faction.

If you don't like that, I suggest you develop some remarkable development skills and write your own game.

Hello commander Hunterm101...

I am a busy man also, fulltime job and 3 kids...

I bought the game on 11.2.2015, Lifetime expansion pass on 2.9.2015...

I played usually about 3 days a week, 2-4 hours in the evening (after kids bedtime).
It took me over a year to get into Anaconda (almost never selling previous ships). It took me another 6 months to sit in a Corvette. I do not yet have rank for Cutter.

I confess, that I used mode switching for donation missions, later I used it for a while for conflict zone massacre missions stacking. But I didn`t "overuse" it and basically I stopped after reading these forums more, because many commanders consider this as "cheating". But I must say, that it has sped up my progress in rank grinding and credit grinding for the corvette quite a bit.

I took a break from Elite, because my gaming rig was a very weak one, I stopped enjoying the low fps. Now I have a VR ready highend machine, waiting for a good oculus rift buy... So my gaming sessions will soon return to my usual 2 hours after kids bedtime :)

I understand your desire to sit in your dream ship asap, but Elite is specific. It takes time and planning to achieve your goals. And truth is, that many commanders, who take beforehand shortcuts and exploits to get there asap, burn out and stop playing, which is a shame.

Take your time, enjoy the ride, work steadily towards your goals.

Good luck! Karlos

You have bought an online multiplayer game. Just accept that you bought the wrong game for you, and move on :)

Edit: Wait for the next Beta release. Sign up as a tester, fly whatever you want for the duration of the Beta. Best option you have!

How many discussions on effortless credits do we need? I suggest FDEV just adds a free money cheat and be done with it.

And I've actually just found that my main source of credits, missions, have been completely destroyed. The mission boards are producing me literally 0 missions.

Stuff like this is my problem:

You want to get into a big ship. Absolutely no problem.

Let's pick an Anaconda, Fully A-Rated. So budget 750m? Current balance 100k.

You have a few ships.

Create a passenger ship. And haul bottoms all over. Over 3 hours I guess I could earn the guts of 100m with current not bugged missions.
+ Create a trading ship. I have routes that do 2m per 5 minutes = 40m per hour. 120m per 3 hours.

The credits are there... You just need to be choosy and committed. And keep an eye on the developer created windfalls, and milk them until their udders fall off.

If you want a corvette, you're looking at an 80hr grind of data missions or so in addition to needed 1.2bn credits to create anything useful.
If you want a cutter, Quince missions give great Empire rank. Again you'll need 1bn +. Tip: Cutter is tugboat. It's only good for trading.

From someone who has all... An fully spec'd Anaconda can do all the Corvette/Cutter can do, just s well. Corvette while king of the combat ships, does not have the gameplay yet available to use it to it's fullest. Cutter is The best Trade ship, but only because it can carry more. It handles woefully. (Great for well paying passenger missions too) *whistle*

My point is; having a Cutter/Corvette in no way means 'I win'. There is no 'i win' in E.D. Plenty of grind, but no 'I win' :D

The best you can hope for is to buy into a beta.

Then you will be able to try out the big ships for a while. That satisfies me enough. In fact for the last beta I just stuck with the ship I like, the Cobra III.

I've played from the very start and still fly around in a Cobra III mainly or a T6 or T7 when the need arises.

I started at beta in May 2014 hauling fish about to save up for an Anaconda, playing 4 to 5 hours a week.
My Anaconda arrived in March 2017.

Just enjoy the journey!

It does. The game is as presented. If you don't like the game mechanics as is then you need to look elsewhere. It appears that you want your own personal game as with the rest of the forum.

Telling people to not play the game (and leave) because they automatically do what you want, is pathetic. And this is not the first time I’ve seen this comment, either. Disagree? No problem.

Encouraging people to leave the game, in any number, is beyond counterproductive.

Is the system in lockdown?

No, this is post latest emergency patch where frontier has fixed the mission system, after their review, by having 0/10, or 0/9 or 0/11 missions. To solve people running missions, it appears the solution is to simply have none. Again.

One step forward, twelve backwards. Every time. I don’t know what Frontier is doing. Does Frontier? No idea. But this swinging from extremes is beyond grating. It’s been 3 years. Get a handle on it, FDEV.

In all Serousness:

Lay out a Plan.
Break it up into Achievable Pieces and the Order they need to happen.
Set your Goals and Milestones.
And Execute...

I would recommend going after Elite in Exploration First.
You can do it in a Small Inexpensive Ship: Coby, DBX or DBS... I chose the Diamondback Scout.
Then pick a System you intend to Grind Naval Rank in and sell your Exploration Data there Exclusively.
Once you get your chosen System Factions up to Allied and your Exploration Rank up to say Ranger....
Goind out your needed Naval Rank.

By the tim you get your Naval Rank Ground Out you'll have the Cash to buy and Outfit your Cutter or Vette...
Or the Conda even...

Hit any of the High Pay Scenarios that are sure to Crop Up for extra Cash...

For your Exploration Rank, there are a Number of Resources available online that will help you learn Where and What to Scan.
Search "Road To Riches"

With the Above in mind, the Biggest Tip is to Stop Reading the Forums and Get To Flying!
