Requesting help with separate Steam and normal launcher accounts

(Bad?) Decisions were made and this is my situation:

I have an alpha (main) account that I at some stage connected to my main Steam account.
At some point I decided to get myself an alt account, and bought another Elite on a secondary Steam account. Yes, I know you shouldn't have multiple Steam accounts, but as I said (bad) decisions were made.

Since my main account also works without steam, I wanted to do this:

Install the normal (non-Steam) launcher for my main.
Install the Steam version for my alt.

Now the problem is: Since the alt is on my secondary Steam account, and for other games I'm always logged in to my main Steam account, the Steam launcher also launches my main ED account.

Is there a way to get the Steam version launch with the secondary ED account? I tried family library sharing, but it still starts the wrong account.
Or make the secondary Steam account into an ED account where I can log in with the normal (non-Steam) launcher?

Just change steam accounts - I have two elite dangerous commanders that have to run through steam (bought since April 2019) - I just log out of one steam account and log in to the other.

You just have to be in the Steam account for the version you want to run.

I think you can ask support to remove the steam link for your original version - I don't think you can un-link yourself.

(BTW - I also have one Steam-purchased version that I just launch direct as it was an older purchase (it uses a shared installation with another, separate, store-bought version).

(Yes I have too many accounts.)
