So this is a thing now, 1E, controls research limpets that sample alien ships. And limpets can be synthesised now, although they use a lot of (common) mats...

Shinrarta sells the scanner, don't know where else. Pleiades sector IR-W D1-55 hs a new icon on it in the galmap too, just going there to try it....

Use them on Thargoid ships. :)

And tested it, it goes to the flower ship and takes about a minute to retrieve samples, which makes it attack. It retrieved a "Thargoid Cyclops Tissue Sample", asnd came back, to be retrieved.

I didn't retrieve it though, since the Innsmouth Express (my Dolphin) was taking fire and is 80% wet tissue paper. I didn't slow down for it, and ran it over and broke it.

But, I think the CG and onwards involve sending research drones into cyclops ships and not getting trashed while retrieving them...

OK, had another die if you go more than 5 km from the Cyclops, lost one that way. Also, if you hang around at 4 km or so, the Cyclops still lets Thargons out, but also fires a long range beam weapon from its centre, orange / yellow, and at least 4 km range.

I'm at 28% hull, and haven't got one back yet, and it's gone midnight, so I'm parking it for now.

I got one in my python. Nothing special really about it. 6c bi-weave with thermal resist and stock hull with one 5d hrp blast resistant. no weapons.

i was able to repair both modules and hull while extracting the data though... just bring limpets because the thargs will hurt them.

lastly, just wait once the data is collected because it'll come back the way collectors do; just open your hatch when it's getting close. top speed of them are like 200m/s so keep that in mind.

OH, and HAVE CORROSION RESISTANT RACKS. I had to run to Maia to grab some because i forgot.

Nice work! I'm going back tomorrow in a ship with a bit more metal in its hull. Have the corrosion resistant cargo rack, but.. do they still only come in 2 ton versions? And how much did the limpet return in samples?

Yeah there's only 2t and 1t racks, but the samples only come back with one anyhow so i'll grab another in anticipation of engineer unlocking lol. For the first time I had to consider what to leave out of my python... quite full with 64t cargo, 6 shield, 6 fuel scoop, 5 hrp, 5 afm, repair, research, discovery,... feel like im forgetting but yeah that's not usually a problem in a python.

but don't feel bad i first took a DBx and it didnt have oomph i needed either (roughly 50% wet tissue paper) ;-)

yes absolutely optional and only comes in one variant, size 1 which can only have one active limpet @ 200m/s... they don't work when you get hyperdicted it only worked for me when dropping into non-human threat 5. i recommend being able to repair hull and modules simultaneously because they aliens crush your modules before working on your hull. starting with canopy i noticed.

Cool - just done the same thing, in the icourier, which isn't perfect, but is cheap to ship. Got the tissue sample, not sure where it's useful though....

That's all nice'n'dandy but I got a Thargoid cyclops tissue sample in my anti-corrosion cargo bay but what the heck I do with it?
I brought it to Palin Research centre but no options there.
Also ILLEGAL cargo...
