Rest in Peace Commander Toru

You can read more about it here and here I just wanted to spread the word since some friends of his set up a Just Giving acount to help fund his funeral to take some off some of the stress on his family.

We are gathered here today to pay our last respects to our honoured dead, those who have fallen to protect that which we hold dear. We mourn their loss and vow that they have not died in vain. They now return to the stars from which they came. May those stars serve to remind us of their sacrifice and of our duty. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. Amen.

We were the same age. That hits me even more, for some reason. I didn't know him, I don't know his full story, only how he did and the possible reasons why.

o7 Godspeed, Toru.

My very heartfelt condolences to those who knew him, this is so tragic. Depression is horrible, and it touches everyone involved; the individual, their family and ofc, their friends.
When this happens in a gaming environment/community it has it's own devastating effect. We make so many great friends online. And though we might never meet via real life, these friends can most easily become some of our closest friends, ever.
When something of this magnitude happens, when a friend leaves us this way, we're left here with not only the incredible sadness, but we're also left drifting through an extremely empty place where questions buzz through our heads non-stop -where no outlet and no answers- await.
We want to reach out to their loved ones, but feel very awkward doing so. Many of us struggle with those feelings internally, and anguish over them. It's incredibly painful.

o7 Toru.

If you, or anyone you know, suffers from depression, anxiety, or display any feelings towards hurting themselves, please, get help; help is NOT a cold, unforgiving word. Help is a shiny, warm, happy word, and it works.
