Restarting game After Beta.

OP, I've restarted the game 6+ times. Four of the times have been on a new account. Now would be a good time to do it for the 7th time because the game is on sale for ~$22 but I don't have the time to do it again.

Instead, I'm going for Triple Triple Elite one of these days, I'm almost to my second Triple Elite. Just doing it as time permits and not rushing it though.

If and when one switches from their current platform to another there is a cost involved in buying the game. Where as if one just wants to start from scratch on their current platform, there's a spot to click on in the main menu that will do just that and it doesn't cost a dime. The difference is, clicking on the restart from scratch menu doesn't allow a transfer of any assets as one can do if and when switching platforms allows. Which is a one time and one time ordeal. And then it's only assets, not rank, no ships, etc etc etc.

You can always do a "soft reset".

Sell all but your most expensive ship, then go on a really bad PvP rampage with a "never give up, never surrender!" attitude until you run out of cash.

Then click the freewinder button and wallah, fresh start, no engineer or rank grind. :)

Of course, you can just suicide yourself broke, but it's not really that fun. :p

I have only one alt account, and I bought it for exploration.

Now that the True Scientists have taken over, I might do a clean save on the alt account. No need for more than one alt account for me.

I'll possibly buy an alt account in the sales and start with that, but there is no way I could bring myself to reset my triple elite (not exploited) 4bn admiral king 20x g5 engineers main CMDR...

I have re-started my game twice. once after being bad, and then to start in VR. Both times it gave me a feeling of free-newness in my Sidewinder,

Yes, I know. I just took the incident as an opportunity. Old save got a bit stale anyway. So far I am enjoying myself.

And to think how many "I-lost-my-new-Anaconda-to-an-OPNPC-so-I-hate-this-game I QUIT!!!111" posts we get and you're just having a chilled and fun time after something 10 times worse.

Depends on how you feel I guess. I do this on all the games I play. Elite, Skyrim, even some MMO type games.

I love to play this game at an easy pace. After 4 years i haven´t collected a billion credits, i am only single Elite status (in exploration) and i have only 5 ships in my fleet. Will i start over? No, never :D - And i like my in game character as he is and what was achieved. Looking forward to fill my Codex with loads of new entries though.

Damn I am definitely not trying, got over 1900 hours in the game and don't have an Anaconda (or a Cutter or Corvette) - but then I don't want any of the big three although I have the funds to buy one of each :D

Quite the same for me. I'm playing since Dec. 2014 and owned an anaconda 2 or 3 months ago for exploring. Now the ship is cheaper than the stock one :), and I'm still trying to find the best setup for the void, min. 50 lys.

I'm playing the game slowly, I've didn't make any runs in sothis (?) to get billions of credits in a short time.

The route is the goal (?) Is that the correct description in English?

I won't restart, too, even though I tink I have too many rebuys.

I already have three accounts, with one I started very recently, so i'm good for now...

But I'll say that if you feel like it, definitely restart a CMDR when Chapter 4 hits live !

Thought about it long and hard, but since I won't buy a second account because I'd miss a lot of paintjobs and ship kits, I had to carefully consider the implications.

The biggest factors are unlocking engineers, many of which require really tedious tasks to complete, specific guardian gear I find very useful, and military rep primarily for the Federation as I really like the Corvette. While the grind used to take a lot longer than it does now, I'd really not want to do all that again, even if I'd probably be much quicker achieving these now.

I'm still only single Elite, want to become Triple, and the fact I have access to Jameson Memorial and about 2bn worth of assets means if I want to quickly build any ship for whatever purpose, I can do so without grinding credits and/or mats.

Edit: Oh and I forgot to add, wiping my save means I'd also wipe the 'history' of my CMDR (stats etc. that will be visible in the Codex). Just feels wrong doing that as it's been a long road on my current and only save (playing since release on PC).

I've started a second CMDR recently, already earned enough to afford an AspX and am now in the process of unlocking the most relevant engineers and the Guardian FSD booster. As soon as I can properly kit out a Krait Phantom he'll be off into the black.

I made the the jump to PC with a third commander. (my other 2 are on Xbox)

I am waiting for 3.3, while fooling around in the beta.

Can't wait to start fresh with a Horizons Sidewinder!

You can't start again. You can delete your assets but you can't delete your accumulated skills and knowledge of how to play the game.

Second time around, if you don't have an Anaconda in seventeen hours it's because you're not trying.

Make that seventeen years, for me. :)

I've been seriously considering restarting my CMDR. I'm not worried about re-making money of course, but unlocking engineers has me leaning towards just keeping what I have.

My thoughts exactly the engineer grind is just too much of a pain.

I did however buy a 2nd account in the sale for £16.
