Restore All Paintjobs in the Store

Why are people questioning this? They removed the cheap paint jobs in order to force you to spend more ARX if you don't want the factory paint jobs. Taking away customer options to get more $$, welcome to capitalism. LOL

We all know it's a marketing move, what we disagree with is that its a good marketing move. It may be working for Fdev in the grand scheme of things, which is a massive shame because for some of us it removes our ability to actually give money for something we want, and if it does come back it'll just feel like manipulation due to the limited time nature driving the prices up. I accept capitalism as a driving force of our society, but I don't accept it as the only metric to define success or good practice. This is a bad move for us as consumers, period.

Would it be in the realm of possibility that they've reserved part of the back catalogue of skins for PP rewards?
Well that would be a dumb idea. Developing content not everyone is interested in is one thing (you can't please everyone) but putting stuff that used to be available behind that is like double tapping your foot.

I am assuming the only reason they added the power play modules to get more interest in PP. There are groups who do PP and BGS but the majority don't really care for it .

If they really want to declutter the store, why not combine a lot of the colors into combination packs? Before, someone might only buy one vibrant color for a relatively low price tag. But if you like the vibrant colors, you might be just as likely to buy all of the vibrant colors in one pack, and effectively buy seven times as many paint jobs.

What really confuses me is the fact they removed some of the recently released really nice paint jobs, like the Vanguard ones. I don't mind having an exclusive Vanguard paint job on my cutter, but I did kind of want to buy another one for my corvette, and now I can't.

Back before they introduced Arx lots of colours were sold in packs such as Tactical and Military or even Vibrant there used to be people complaining that they only wanted one or two of the colours and wouldn’t it be a good idea to sell them individually.
Then they made all the communities equal by introducing Arx and got rid of the packs of paint.

... and sell each repaint for the price of the pack.

"Restore All Paintjobs in the Store"

I was surprised 1st when some of the paints were gone, surprised again by new prices a bit but that is all. Paintjobs are a kind of luxury stuff for me that are entirely not necessary at all. The worst side effect of this change for me is that my motivation to login and get weekly arx limit dropped even lower than it was already.

I can complain only about game getting mainly combat related updates but I suppose majority of players like combat activity the most so I'm in minority...

If the issue really is FDev marketeers wanting people to pay a bigger lump at a time to tie into the ARX packages, maybe they should consider reintroducing the packs? Sure, very few are willing to pay 1000's of ARX for one tactical paintjob, but for the full suite for one ship? Maybe.

Still doesn't explain the random removal of some premium paintjobs though, like the Apollo Green I've currently got on my Cobra Mk.III no longer being available.

That's an interesting point. I also don't care about getting the weekly ARX anymore.

I wonder if its an internal argument at Frontier. There are obvious pro's and con's to both arguments.

Faction A)
Keep some low priced ARX items to encourage people to login for the 400 ARX. It is a very small carrot, but it works on lots of people. This will help keep numbers up and encourage players to continue logging in regularly .(kinda like a 'loss leader').

Faction B)
Get rid of the cheepo ARX stuff and increase ARX prices. If a player wants anything ARX they gotta pull out a credit card. Nobody rides for free! This is a business, not a charity!

I know I'm late to the party here, but wow, FDEV. I finally get my little brother to play with me (admittedly after not really playing much since Odyssey myself) and you've taken away tons of cheap and most importantly plain paint jobs. Because they were the cheapest, and you want people to spend more... by... removing things for them to spend on, lol. I just can't, with how this game is headed anymore.

All I wanted was to show him the flag paints... little did I know that it would lead me down this rabbit-hole of you getting FAR less for your arx as well as having my once exclusive paints be always available (contradictory to their very existence as I waited and spent the money on them during those specific times... waiting for the opportunity to buy a matching Iridescent Gleam or Stygian Red or Gold or Chrome for my new vehicle). It's somehow worse that you gave the midnight black to all of us for every ship in the game for free at one point. And now they're $10 each.

Mark my words, they will be adding Cobra Mk4 as a FOMO pre-built soon. At that point, I will well and truly never play again. I already hardly play (despite having 4,000 hours the first few years the game was out). I know it's not fair (I mean - trust me you aren't missing much lol) to others who weren't around or possibly not even alive at the time - but that was our reward for being here and funding the game so you could run off and make park builders instead.

Every time I see positive things like 'new ships' or 'finally lowering the engineering grind on foot as you said you would when Odyssey launched' - it's coupled with deplorable choices like this. There are other ways to fund development... and removing plain paint jobs to force people to spend on 537 recolors of the same ugly paints isn't one of them. Nor is giving exclusivity for 3 months if you spend real money on a new ship (hmm... why does this sound so familiar...). One step forward, two Neil Armstrong moments back.

I honestly don't understand people who keep repeating phrases containing "forced to spend". Nobody is forced to spend. It only happens when a producer offers something which customers like. Where on earth does this mindset come from that people feel any kind of compulsion with this? There may be twists in psychology I don't yet understand. The only thing which is obvious is that those under the spell are much further away from understanding it.

I just googled this and found this forum post:) I hadn't played Elite for a while. A couple of days, I logged back in and was having fun. Now, I play in solo mode exclusively as I dislike multiplayer play except for PvE. So, it doesn't matter to me. But, I thought...I'm having fun. I should support this small little company providing this game. So, I went to buy a paintjob and saw that all of the good ones were gone. I googled it and arrived at this.

So, I was only considering this to be nice. But, then...I discovered that the company is doing shady stuff like this, I'm totally turned off and not interested in helping them at all. No thanks.
