Stronghold kingdoms

I may have a slight headstart were we to play Star Trek Online. I think I'm Lieutenant Commander (maybe only Lieutenant), but I haven't played in a while, so I can't remember for sure...

I'd be happy to meet up with people in an ST:O game for a few jaunts and a Romulan Ale. I didn't get far up the ranks before I got bored though.

EDIT: Incidentally, why is this tagged as [AUDIO]?

I too haven't played in ages, and I was in the beta. TBH I got a bit bored of it at Lieutenant Commander. It was all just the same thing over and over: me getting blown up.

Hi Folks,

We have been watching the threads since we all came back from Lavecon and it seems obvious that people made really good connections at the event and would like the opportunity to continue the conversation ..

To which end I was wondering what people thought of the following.

Retro Lave - A Community Journey Through The Space Ship Computer Game Genre.

Basically its a game night once a week where we all buy a game and then jump on skype or mumble etc to chat whilst we play it.
The chat will be about the game we are playing, the development of elite, current affairs, and no doubt onsies etc.

At the end of the two weeks a member of the gaming group puts together a summary review of the game we have been playing with comments from others as they see fit, and submit it to go on the main Lave Radio show in the community corner section.

Games would rotate every two weeks with the next game being chosen by poll.
Games will be cheap so everybody can get involved without worrying about bank balances or paydays etc.

A damn FINE idea I say.

As of this morning I am the proud owner of the ENTIRE Wing Commander storyline!

And for only $9! ( I already have Prophecy in a box somewhere).

Even though I'm a big WC fan, I've never owned ALL of them before. I had WC3 and 4 on CDs, but they vanished somewhere, and I have never owned 1 & 2.

Quite looking forward to this now. :)

I didnt get privateer... LOL

I do have the others... HOWEVER my PC is too damn fast with the mouse controls... I'll need to make some tweaks...

You know with POI's Elite 4 was nearly WC 1 with press A to jump to Nav point X... I actually should save my comments for the night!! :D

I was going to suggest not booting up into the game until we are all together that way you can record people initial reactions as they occur.

"Wow this is not what I remember or this don't work non my PC or huh look at that it hold up" etc

You lose that spontaneity if you have already played the first five minutes or even the intro.

Just my thoughts

Is that the WC oolite? WOW NO I DONT HAVE TIME TO PLAY..
Stop this you EVIL gaming temptress!!!!

I must start my day!!

Independence War(or I-War) and I-War 2

I'm a real fan of the independence war series. The Newtonian flight model to that was really well done. I've played it through a few times and even wrote a couple of custom missions for it. So if you want someone to talk about that one, I'll volunteer.

John Jordan put the same kind of lateral thrusters idea in his Mod for FFE, which (IMHO) makes that game much more playable.:D

Ah. I'll be sure to bear that in mind for the next ones then

Also, you said record. I didn't quite pick up on the fact that we'd be recording our reactions. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with that, I just didn't pick up on that.

I am 5 hours behind uk time here, so I may have to mail mine in.... I might miss this weeks too as I can't really get up out of bed and walk anywhere at the moment. (knee surgery) and playing in this position would annoy the hell out of me. its hard enough typing.........
