Return to Site B DLC and Free Update Idea / Wishlist

So I'm not going to pretend that this wasn't partially inspired by the DLC Speculation by Youtuber's Best in Slot and Evolution Square, but I did want to put my own spin on things and throw some of my ideas and wants for a potential final DLC expansion out there into the void.

As much as I would like another full year of support for JWE2 I do have a feeling that things might be wrapping up and I might to have to wait for a JWE3 to get the rest of what I want out of a Jurassic World Evolution game.

So first off, I'd obviously like it to have a new campaign and challenge mode map along with some Sandbox maps set on Isla Sorna. In particular I'd like a Redwood biome and foliage tool/decorations that we can properly use.

Second I'd like some TLW skins/variants for certain animals like the Mamenchi and Pteranodon.

As for the Dinosaur Roster here are my picks and why I picked them.

1. Microceratus. While Microceratus doesn't appear in any of the Park era movies, it is present on Isla Sorna in The Lost World novel by Michael Chrichton. It is the only living movie animal we do not have and it would be nice to finally have it even if it's only associated with Sorna from the book canon.

2. Ornitholestes. Another novel dinosaur and one that had the ability to camouflage. One of my biggest pet peeves is the Carno having it's camouflage ability swiped by the I-Rex. I would like the Ornitholestes and Carnotaurus to have that camouflage ability added to the game. If one animal gets it novel special ability, then the other should too. This would be a great excuse for it in my opinion.

3. Mussaurus. Another novel dinosaur, it would be our first Prosauropod in the game which I think would interesting. It would also give us another smaller long-neck like the Amargosaurus and Nigersaurus which I would prefer over just going for bigger and bigger sauropods.

4. Othenila or Hadrosaurus. I would be happy with either of these tbh. Othenila is again another novel animal that appeared in both Jurassic Park and The Lost World by M.C. Hadrosaurus was seen in one of Roland Tembo's field guide pages during the large chase sequence. It's a bit of deep cut from TLW but it would technically be a movie canon animal. They also appeared in the Jurassic Park novel.

As for other paid features beyond the campaign I would like a Helicopter Tour added that you can assign to Ranger Stations, maybe adding a Tour Beacon Upgrade to the tech tree, that way you can assign them to multiple exhibits easily. It would also be nice if we had different era styles for it available. Another thing I would like added is a Boneshaker themed Monorail for Jurassic Park era. I know that isn't a Sorna specific thing, but if we're getting other attractions added I would like that as well. I'd also like a High Hide themed variant of the Biosyn Dominion Expansion Research Tower.

As for the free update I would like the new skins / variants and Carno camo to be free obviously. I'd like some more decorations added. I would also like it if the Compy and Dilos could add the venom status to other animals like the Troodon does. Another thing I would like added is a "Mister" decoration that lets you add mist to the game like Biosyn valley has. It would be a nice Enviromental feature to have.

That's all my poor tired brain has for now, let me know what you guys think.

Ornitholestes and Mussaurus are absolute to be added. Microceratus, Othnielia, and Hadrosaurus should have been added last year for the 30th anniversary celebration of the Jurassic Park film.

I doubt the river-ride-type attractions in both Jurassic Park and Jurassic World eras are viable to be added.

Agreed. I don't think we'll get any water based rides in JWE2, which is why I'm angling for a Helicopter one. We already have Helicopters in game and using existing mechanics to make them funciton would be the best option imo.

ehhhhhh..... You know that we have allready a full functional ROV ingame for the lagoons ???
The Gamemechanics for a 2-4 seater submarine ride would allready be there !!!!
It is NOT a Question of the Gamemechanics,.... If Frontier is willing , they can anytime make a " Attractions-Expansions-DLC" !

We have Gamemechanics For...
1. Zipline -------> Gondala ride !
2. ROV-Underwaterdrone ------> 2-4Seater Submarine !
3. Jurassic Park Helis with H pads ------> Helishuttles !
4. Aviary Drone ------> 1-2Seater Shuttledrone !
5. Gyrospheres -------> 2 Seater 6x6 amphicar-ride for JP timeline !

The Options would be there, but I doubt we will get such attractions so late in this Games life.
Sadly.... even so JWE II is Frontiers Bestseller, it doesn´t get the chance to show all its potential because other games get much more support for some reasons we don´t know.

@SabrielZann I do not know about balloon rides, what do you say to those?

I would personally love a hot air ballon ride but if the tour vehicles can be attacked by pterosaurs in the same ACU helicopters / tour vehicles can I'm not sure how well that would go for the guests inside lmao. I also think it would be easier to tweak what already exists in the game than design something completely new.

Also I would love a little Masrani Easter Egg voice line when one does go down.

I don't think the aviary and lagoon drones would quite translate well over mechanically into a proper attraction, at least not without some serious tweaking. Gondola rides would be great and I could see that thrown into a DLC and we do have the JP tour vehicles serving as both the tour truck and gyrospheres for JP era.

If you want my opinion on why support is likely ending because the new movie coming out next year. They probably have to get a new game out the door asap to tie into JW7. Universal holds a lot of say over what happens with JWE and JW in general so that's my best guess as to why support is wrapping up when there's so much they could still do to make the game feel like a complete package.

Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis have hot-air balloon rides, but no pterosaurs. A drawback is that the balloon rides close when there is thunderstorm. When a balloon crashes, visitors might be stranded. Ranger choppers are automatically deployed if visitors were spotted by security cameras inside carnivore exhibits. Otherwise, the player have to manually control the ranger chopper to rescue visitors stranded in herbivore exhibits.

If there are balloon rides in Jurassic World: Evolution 2, keep pterosaurs confined to the aviary. Balloon rides still close if there are storms, balloon crashes are still a concern.

Aviary and lagoon drones would just need a new skin each. both can be driven by the players fpv ( Cam-View).
The Aviary drone could use the JP - entrance Helipad with little reskining as "Attractionbuilding" while the Lagoondrone could use the "malta-dlc-hatchery" as "Attractionbuilding.
The 2 Seater submarines woud come out of the "Hatchery-Doors".
If 1-2 Seaterskins for the drones would be really toooo hard to do ( lol..lol..lol..), they could also work with just other colours as " ROV attractions where the visitors radiocontrol them from the Building to take pictures etc.

JP Tourrides and Trucks can´t drive on build tracks in the shallow water ....So the option to make Gyrospheres and for JP timeline some 6x6 amphicars able to build their tracks on land AND in water would at least give us some kind of " Waterride" like " JW The Ride" or "JP The Ride" ;) !

To rush out a "JWE III" without giving JWE II a proper BIG-ending DLC ( Like the huge RTJP dlc for JWE was....) and do just minor improvements would be veeeeeerrry Risky at least.
If some Kind of JWE III will come it needs MAJOR imrovements like full terrain tools for Lagoons, Kelp, natural rocky and beach shores , real packhunting, riverattractions, less scripted fights, etc....etc...etc.
That´s seems to much work to do to be ready for the Players by june 2025 !
And JWE III needs to be wellllllllllll tested so that its not full of bugs at the start !

I could definitely see the remote controlled drone option for lagoons and aviaries becoming an attraction but my understanding is the way that the water terrain works in JWE2 is what prevents us from getting river rides. It's a technical limitation, not a creative or financial one. Also I'm 90% sure JWE3 has already been in development for awhile. It would explain in part the lackluster Anniversary update from last year, the pivot to dinosaur packs for the last year's worth of dlc and the lack of an update for the Secret Species pack. It's very likely that the next DLC is our send off, assuming Frontier wants to switch gears and focus fully on getting JWE3 out the door.

If you want my opinion on what features would be day 1 improvements, river attractions, improved pack hunting, improved lagoons and attractions along with better terrain tools will probably be the major selling points. I don't know if you ever played the first game but things we take for granted like the day/night cycle, sleeping animations and toilets were all added in post-launch updates or DLC. JWE is a series that improves incrementally via updates and DLC and I think JWE3 will be much the same.

Aquatic animal social animations, the aforementioned drones and trash cans were all such improvements as well. They were not base game features in JWE2. I think we as a community need to temper our expectations and that's why I try to create discussions like this so that we can theory craft and throw together a bunch of ideas and wishlist items. If even half of what we want makes it into a DLC or update, I'll be happy.

As for the bug testing, that's another reason why I think things are wrapping up. They're going to need that May/June 2024 to July 2025 (assuming there are no filming delays) time period to get as much room as possible. As much as I would like another DLC and free update to pad things out between the next expansion and give us more desired features and improvements, I'll understand if that doesn't happen. I'd rather JWE3 have a more solid foundation at launch than JWE2 squeeze out a little more content at the end of its lifecycle (we aren't really missing much in terms of animals besides Microceratus and Smildon in terms of film / tv animals). I would honestly want JWE3 not to feel as rushed at launch as JWE2 was.

I appreciate you discussing things here with me all the same and I'm always happy to hash things out with other community members. Hopefully Frontier sees some of these ideas and tries to incorporate them if not now, then later in a future title.

While I appreciate wanting to use JPOG as inspiration (was a big JPOG kid growing up, probably one of my most played games) I'm just not sure if everything needs to be brought over 1 to 1. Maybe the Balloon could be a Jurassic Era version of the ride and the Helicopter could be World Era, much the same way the Tour Cars are for JP and Trucks/Gyrospheres are for World.

Sadly the pterosaurs can already fly the coop during storms from damaged aviaries, so I don't think keeping them permanently confined during storms is an option. I think attacking ariel tour vehicles in the same way they currently attack ACU vehicles would be a fun and unique danger to have and would encourage players shutting down tours during storms or making their ariel tours cover areas away from aviaries as a solution.

@SabrielZann

Besides attractions, there is also the toggle of prey. In Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis, beef cattle are alternative to goats.

It is not just live prey feeder for dinosaurs, what do you say to the marine feeder dispensing squid instead of fish?

My research records said Archelon fed on jellyfish and squid. Besides fish, Ichthyosaurus fed on squid too.

I do think some feeder variety would be nice. I would personally like a Cow Feeder that operates similarly to the Shark Feeder for lagoons. I think perhaps they should only be useable by pack hunting or medium and large carnivores but should fulfil more hunger need and count as two prey for the purposes of prey fulfillment. A squid feeder would be nice but might be a JWE3 thing, though honestly they could just add some squid models to the lagoon feeder and call it a day. Maybe just call it a Lagoon Feeder at that point.

Speaking of feeders, the insect feeder is very underutilized and something I hope gets expanded on in JWE3.

Alvarosaurus does appear in Lockwood manor as one of the diorama models so it's possible we could see that added to the roster once the insect feeder becomes a base game feature in future titles. There's a few other deep cut animals like that I hope make it into a future game. Fingers crossed Segisaurus finally makes it in when JWE3 rolls around. I was crushed to know that it almost made the cut for JWE2.

Many of the features like manual controll option for the aviary drone and the ROV I suggested here in the forum and back in the day Frontiers Developers tried to give us some of the ideas , when they didn´t need too much work to implement.
But after Frontier had to make its team a lot smaller the new content inspired by the forum was extreme reduced.
What I can´t understand is that JWE II made the most profit for frontier together with Planet Zoo, but soooo many chances to get more money, simply by sell REAL new attrations/driveable vehicle and Deco ( For LOST World a side B Buldingsset etc. ) as " Attraction-Expansion-DLC" are thrown in the wind.
Speaking of species that are not in JWE II there are still many of that which really would take advantage of Lagoonplatform or Sharkfeeder f.e.
1. Temndontosaurus (12m) : Sharkfeederanimation
2. Pliosaurus ( 12-14m ) : Sharfeeder and jumping like whales....
3. Sarcosuchus or machimosaurus rex ( 12m ): Crocs for lagoonplatform that could use the sharkfeeder to !
4. Tanystropheus (6m): Could live in normal enclosoures using the shallow water and catch fish from Spinos fishfeeder.
5. Hatzgopterix ( 10m): Could be build more robust und get walking and huntinganimation for pterosaurs.
6. Plateosaurus (9m): WE HAVE NOT ONE SINGLE triassic Herbivore Dinosaur !
7. Dakosaurus ( 5m ) .... could use the lagoonplatform to hunt like a leopard seal.
8. Archeopterix ( 60 cm) ... come on the legend is not in JWE II !
9, Ramphorhynchus ( 1,8m ws) Most common Pterosaur of the Jurassic is NOT IN THE JURRASSIC GAME ...lol!
10. Dearc (3,8m Ws ) Biggest longtailed Pterosaur ever discovered is NOT in JWE II !

Any of this species i would have prefered over some " new hybrids" , and I´m not the only one.

I personally am very anti-hybrid. I think they take up space that could be used for actual dinosaurs. It isn't just the layoffs and whatnot affecting what we have and could have gotten, Universal is also a big factor like I've said before.

The lagoon platform I'm hoping gets further expanded on in the next game. A Sarcosuchus or Deinosuchus would be great. We did almost get Microraptor and Segisaurus, very heartbroken that we didn't but it gives me something look forward to in the next game. I definitely think depending on what the next DLC is we might be best served by thinking of what our ideal JWE3 rosters look like, outside getting all of the current JWE2 species.

I actually do believe there is something “ Isla Sorna: Site B” related already planned out for a while.

But, my theory as to what it might be like, should it be true, is a lot different from this.

That's the beauty of being part of a large community is that we all have different ideas for what we'd like to see come to the game.

I tend to approach my ideas from a game dev AND fan perspective (studied video game design in college) so my ideas tend to be a little conservative feature-wise and why I don't just dogpile 50 new animals onto my wishlists. I work with what to me seems reasonable for a dev team to accomplish and what makes the most sense to appeal to fans.

If you want to hear what I think it’ll be like, it’s this below.
Now, this isn’t a wishlist or a suggestion thread at all, but a summary of theoretical content they might do based on how they do things across JWE games from a section of a note document I regularly update:

  1. A “canon fitting style campaign story and narrative” like the DFW campaign as confirmed by JWE2’s director on a Newsweek interview article (and is implied to be the same by the structure of the two Dominion pack campaigns), with three time jumping multiple-level (multiple map) chapters: One with InGen pre-Jurassic Park, one with Masrani Global pre-JPIII, and one with Biosyn Genetics pre-Dominion.

  2. Three maps set on the island with “Isla Sorna:” next to their names just like the existing Isla Sorna map: Compound, Laboratory, and Wilderness.

  3. A biome variant for the preexisting “Tropical” environment called “Tropical-Isla Sorna”, just like how the preexisting one has the name “Isla Nublar” next to it in the square level selection menu, with a different foliage brush set like the “Alpine-Biosyn” map has when compared to the “Alpine-California” setting.

  4. Structures (Buildings and Decorations) seen in or based on TLW and JPIII films, all in a new building set with the "Site B" logo in the build selection menu. Including unexpected potential decor pieces like the raptor nests, JPIII rock formations, and baby dinosaurs that roam in a patch of nature that come with them. If they did dino dung and fallen trees as decorations, I can’t see why they might not ever do it again with other unexpected things like those.

  5. Cutscenes with stills from Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park III, Jurassic World, and Jurassic World: Dominion with Dr. Wu as the narrator.

  6. The characters John Hammond, Dr. Wu, Lilly Halford, Ron Thompson, and Simon Masrani from the Chaos Theory mode games with campaign appearances, since everyone else who voices in the game has one at least. Along with Issac Clement (Biosyn associate like in the Biosyn campaign) and Lewis Dodgson of course.

  7. Dino cosmetics like the JP Parasaurolophus, TLW Pteranodon, and JPIII Triceratops (also from TLW)

  8. One new species only: Microceratus (with three 2022 skins). Because it’s the only known Site B active dinosaur in current established Universal canon lore to be absent in-game, confirmed to be so in both a Charolette video in Dominion, and a leaked InGen list document shared by the DPG. Just like how JWE1’s RTJP only introduced two species, the minimum a JWE1 PDLC ever had.

My personal most wanted DLC feature or for Free update is.....
1.) HIGH Kelp for the Lagoons as Placeable object !
2.) Rocky shores of the Natural Malta DLC lagoon to build some parts of the normal Lagoons !
3.) the rocky walls of the Natural Lagoon optional for the normal Lagoons !

Sadly I think we probably won't see any overhauls for lagoons until the next game. Maybe some more decorations for the end but I think much the same we Aviaries got improved between JWE1 and JWE2, the same will be done for lagoons between JWE2 and JWE3.
