Revive CG piracy

You're not hurting me by killing CG piracy.

You're hurting the game.

I haven't noticed an absence of content that screamed out "WE NEED PIRACY!" whenever I contributed to a CG. Or when I explored. Or when I traded. Or when I did anything else. I think you'll find that Most People™ simply don't care about having piracy as part of their space fantasy unless they want to go out and be pirates. It's just not worth the investment of time to make such things meaningful when people actually just don't give a doodle.

So yeah, we're actually specifically hurting YOU when we say no piracy. Hey, we're PvEers, nobody said our aim was good.

With the current iteration of C&P, one must clear all bounties and fines before being able to turn in cargo for an active trade CG that is not taking place in an anarchy system.

This means CG piracy is effectively dead.

I suggest allowing access to markets and other services for a fee when such services are restricted by anonymous access.

Think of it as the inevitable corruption that would take place when individuals are given such absolute authority to refuse services to docked spacers.

Graft should still be a thing in 3304. Human nature doesn't change all that much.

Hi Zaphod,

Anonymous Protocols don't block access to the black markets, which is where we sell our stolen booty anyway. As long as the CG has a black market (and Frontier should be be mindful of this when choosing CG locations), we're good :)

See, you're looking at this from a "don't pirate me" perspective.

I'm looking at it from a "piracy is dead, that's sad" perspective.

I'm not a pirate.

I'm a psycho killer who plays at being a pirate on very rare occasions.

You're not hurting me by killing CG piracy.

You're hurting the game.

The whole point in pirating a CG is so the equipment that you steal doesn't reach said CG...

Otherwise what's the point in opposing it?

Piracy is a heavy part of the original game plans. It is a strong part of ED. It just doesn't work well on PvP for multiple reasons.

Ofc forgetting that the simple answer is that instead of piracy the players will go to ganking instead. Your call :) x

Naw, the point is to steal the cargo others are bringing into the system, so you get to cash in on the rewards without having to go fetch the goods yourself.

The main point here is that C&P has all but killed "legitimate" piracy, and encourages simple ganking.

I don't know about that, it's been business as usual for me.

As hatchbreaking and / or a few shots of gentle persuasion only incur an Assault bounty, I don't incur Notoriety. If I do need to hand in abandoned cargo, it's only a matter off paying of a negligible fee, or transfer it to a clean ship.

All actions that damage my risk free credit per hour pass times because I am a casual, is essentially griefing.

The forums cry, "we want real pirates not gankers.."

Real pirates, turn back up. Forum cries.. "Oh but I didn't want to actually get pirated, while flying in Open. It is my right to use this mode however and pirates don't understand that ED is a PVE game."

Pirates get bored with the pathetically small RP PVP content offered by ED. PEW PEW ensues

Honestly what do you think is going to happen if you do not throw them a very simple bread cumb?

That they are going to just give up ED, well yeah probably..

However before that, they will just turn murder hobo.

The forums will cry more about the increased murder hobboing and then proclaim that Open is dead and the circle will start again with a new badly design P&P system.
( which also will do nothing to prevent player ganking )
