Modes Reworking the game modes

Jockey thanks for responding.

I think your mistaken here. Or deliberately miss the point. P*v*P* never ever was CONsensual.
By its very nature P*v*p* is competition. Competition always turns one side down, which by its very nature ****** people off, people not into competition, that is. PvEer hate it when they lose.

PvPer always win.

cheers

Ok what orifice did you pull this from? By the logic you are trying to use the Olympics are not consensual.. since at it very nature it is a series of competitions and Competitions always turns one side down. What ISN'T consensual is when others, who do not want to or are not qualified to participate, are forced to partake. It is the equivalent of taking fans from the stands and forcing them down the luge.

Attacking PVErs isn't PVP nor has it ever been... as there is no Vs. When someone hunts deer is it Person vs Deer (PVD)? No.. because the deer really doesn't have a chance..

People have to consent to take part, before any competition takes place.
It's not The Hunger Games where people get chosen and forced to compete.
So it's you missing the point.

That's the whole point of the selective mode system, choosing open is consenting to the chance of PvP.
PG's and Solo is where those not interested in PvP (do not consent) go to play.

I mean, even Power Play - the most competitive part of Elite, Sandro called "consensual PvP". I can link the video - again.

So yes, the point is - PvP is by consent in Elite.
People have to choose to take part.

Jockey!

Do people (do) consent, to PvP? And have they to do so?

Nah, you're the one missing the point.

How would you like to be FORCED to compete in this lovely competition for example?...
You can see people up there, they willingly signed up! You can't see me there.. simply because I didn't sign up.. Choice!

Even though somebody wins that thing as well and somebody loses so by your definition it's PvP, I still have a feeling that (unless you have a weird thing for these type of things), you would rather hide in your PG if you wanted nothing to do with it, right?

Cheers!

Xevvyr, give you joy!

You would (always) know your place, competing against man like me.

Lol. A video game as a test of manhood. One of the most laughable suggestions that gets made.

My Pixels are more manly than yours!

Absolutely

Which takes us back to where we started.

COMPETITION

In a gamey where COMPETITION is none existent, thankx to its modes.

Which renders a game advertising (its) completions stupid.

I believe that is entirely up to the type of competition we would be having :) but that is of course completely irrelevant both to the subject at hand and discussing it on a forum :D

I was however hoping for a somewhat more educated response, so in that regard, I am slightly disappointed :( Nothing major though, it'll pass :D

Cheers!

There is competition.. just because it isn't the epeen kind you seem to like doesn't mean there isn't any. Pirates UA bombed a station, others rallied and brought meta alloys and won the day.. you are going to tell me that isn't a competition?

Aww.. I don't know :)

You seem to be doing just fine in the forum competition :D Couch-commando at its finest haha..

But we wouldn't expect anything less from a MAN of your caliber of course, so keep up the good work!

I'm telling you, you'll win this some day, believe in yourself :D

Xevyr, whom do you are talking to?

Ask educated men for an educated guess.

I forgot to add above, even in open mode someone can remove their consent for PvP with a specific person and "block" them.

I saw a post today (in the newbie's forum I think) that said that blocked players can still be placed in your instance, they just can't communicate with you - so supposedly they could still shoot your posterior off. I don't know the veracity of this, just mentioning it in passing.

It's not a 100% block, but the instancing will try to create seperate instances I think. Doesn't always work.

If you and the person who has you blocked have a friend in common for example, it may instance you all together to play with the mutual friend.

So there has to be a reason it would pick a blocked player over a random one (or none).
But it can override the block and put you together should it have a reason to do so.

So as long as folks don't give it a reason, like accepting random friend requests, you should not see blocked players.

It's also why I keep my friends list very small in game, as I don't know who other folks have on their lists.

Thats the thing, I accept all friend requests because I dont want stupid technical game limitations like instancing or blocks to affect an in game content. I dont want to win by out of the game technicalities.

That is how instancing issues should be overcome in OPEN BGS wars, just befriend your in game enemies.

And many of us don't want stupid technical game limitations like unrestricted PVP to affect in game content.

And by the way... there is no winning in the game.

Which is your choice, just as it is for each player to choose whom they want to interact with.

And there is no such thing as "Open BGS Wars"... it's just BGS Wars, as PS4 and XB1 can also join in and you'll never see them either.

Unrestricted pvp is a built IN GAME feature unlike instancing which is a hardware limitation.

If you are participating in a BGS or a PP war, winning and loosing very much exists in the game, when you put an enemy station into lockdown thats a win in my books.

Recruit players playing in xbox and ps4, problem solved.

Unrestricted PvP is part of open play, or PG's with that kind of rule set. Putting a system into Lockdown is a function of the BGS. Crimes, of any sort, push systems towards that condition, while enforcing the laws counters that push. None of this requires direct PvP.

As to BGS/PP wars, while recruiting XBox and PS4 players, Player Groups should also be recruiting players who don't play in open, from all of those platforms, in order to ensure the best chances at success. Failure to do so is simply a laser aimed at your foot.
