Ride Names.

I have kind of been wondering this for a while now, whats the deal with using real ride manufacturer names in game? I like the names given to each ride, but thought about how RCT3 had official names for things (like double inverter and enterprise etc) are they not allowed, is it a copyright thing? any devs or moderators that may be lurking who could answer, that'd be great, curious also what other members think, what do you make of all this? :D

I do believe it's a copyright thing, they most likely need permission from the owner/manufacture of each ride.

every time you start up PC it says "not intended to copy real life names, locations etc" or something to that effect

real names requires extra money that Atari probably has the rights to

I dont mind, not every ride in RCT was accurately named, thats why we can rename them [up]

That's one of my only complaints about Planet Coaster, I'm not a ride name geek or anything like that but I do like to know what I'm placing, I'm interested in that sort of stuff. It's not a massive issue, but it's definitely something I'll miss. In a way it's a sort of barrier between me and really immersing myself as being the manager of my park

Its a shame, I think it'd be great to have for like a lesson for coaster / ride enthusiasts, knowing where they all come from, sometimes when I get bored early hours of the morning, i'll look through zamperla's site or fabbri looking at new stuff~ Guess I'll keep updating the list above, maybe even edit together some images ;0

It was kind of a Joke... Big O is also the name of the main giant robot from the anime Big O. It was on Cartoon Networks Adult swim, and I guess I forgot that it might be an obscure reference to some people...

I think Scrambler is the correct name actually, RCT1 also used "Gravitron" for the top spin, but in RCT2 it was just called top spin, which was the original name given by Huss who made it, maybe the games were old enough and copyright wasn't as much of a big issue back then :x

Same ride ;0 different names, they're all a Sky Fly.

I find it odd that some parks keep the enterprise name haha

cool I like the pics [up] this should get stickied and updated after the full release!

Ive been a bit disappointed by the name of the insanity since there are crazier rides [haha]

I don't think it'd get stickied, that's a nice thought though :)
I'll continue to update this as we see more rides, if a moderator is reading, could you rename this thread to "Flat Ride's list (Planet Coaster and Real Life)"

If you guys would like the coasters done too, let me know :D
