Ring hotspots no longer show outside the ship that scanned them

The ring hotspots I had discovered in my exploration ship were not visible to my mining ship when approaching the same planet. I had to launch a new probe. Add to that the hotspot is so dim it’s invisible on a well lit ring.

Major visual downgrade too. No shadows trough the fog. No backlight to the icy roids. Seizure inducing effects for lasers. No trails left by lasers except tiny black lines here and there.

So... what you're saying is when you scan a ring, you want the data saved to the cloud, not the ships data core?
Saving the data to the ship (when it's the ship that does the scan) makes perfect sense to me.....

So what I’m saying is that ring hotspots are no longer displayed in your other ships with DSS modules as they have been the prior 3 years.

I can confirm that hotspots that you have dss with a different ship do show, even months later, without having to launch probes again, *as long as you have a dss equiped.

Hmm. Did not show for me. DSS scan yesterday. Switched to mining cutter. Had to scan the rings again in it. So I can confirm there is at least some circumstances that it behaves differently.

Might relog and try my phantom too.

I get you. I’m now curious if it’s newly scanned rings In Odyssey (or maybe just me). I’ll check older ones on the way home later.

At this point I’ll switch to Horizons to mine. No part of the experience feels upgraded. From the tool effects to the atmosphere of the ring itself. Its all less impressive. A little stunned at the moment really. They also added back in the chunks clipping through the roids so every limpet systematically kills itself trying to recover that one.

Don't know about Ody, not in it yet, but I've seen that bug on occasion in Horizons as well in the distant past. Rare, but it does happen. Just instance out then back again.

PS 4 doesn’t have Odyssey yet, do you?

I can see hotspots scanned some time ago in Horizons in any DSS equipped ship in Odyssey (although the hotspots are very dim!) - have to try the same in Odyssey a little later, just in case it is another "exclusive to Odyssey" feature.

I have several ring sets that have been scanned in EDO that show up for every ship in my fleet that has a DSS installed. Yes hot spots are now faint to the point of being easy to miss, I now rely more on the Nav panel to see what I might have found.

Well. At least it sounds like this is a rare bug and not a change in mechanics so that’s good news. I did double check the nav panel and only the moons were displayed until I launched a new probe.
