Maybe this is old news, however some people don't know this thus this post.

FLYING CIRCUS – VOLUME I

Flying Circus will finally give our loyal and patient Rise of Flight customers a new way forward into the future! Our eventual goal is to essentially re-build ROF inside of the Sturmovik universe and give WWI all the latest technology like VR, 64bit, DX11 and improved visuals. We will start by focusing on re-furbishing ten of our existing WWI airplanes and providing a partial map of France to fly and fight over. Subsequent Flying Circus products will further expand content and we’ll work to integrate Flying Circus into our Campaign and Career systems over time. Volume I is merely the first important step and it will be a lot of fun! If Flying Circus proves popular we can eventually fire up the Great War assembly line and break out the canvas and timber once again to make some new crates! Guynmere, Fonck, Coppens, McCudden, Bishop, Rickenbacker and von Richtofen shall fly again 100 years later!

Planned to be Included in Flying Circus – Volume I

I'm only seeing late war aircraft in that list... I'll consider buying it once I see exactly what's on offer.

RoF still has a big edge for me looking at what I'm seeing in the blurb about Flying circus...

Main improvement must be the VR and campaign integration, of course all the graphic improvements, 64 bit and so is going to be great.

Just like Il2 1946 easily beats out its successors in terms of content. Having only recently bought a couple RoF packs on Steam, I'm also reluctant to jump into the Flying Circus. But the offer has its charm. Updated tech on the contemporary engine used by the Il2 BoX client, by the sounds of it outright integration into that client, VR support, etc. etc.. While I love playing some RoF, it can't hide its tech's age, compared to what the engine has become in the current Il2 BoX releases.

But it'll probably be a "premium" offering compared to the now somewhat aged RoF. The "premium" BoX packs cost around 70€ and that's what I'm expecting for the flying circus. If they expand this to the currently available RoF roster, we're probably looking at two or three such releases.

I think the plan is to migrate the player base by offering them an affordable entry package and then sell DLC planes and maps to expand.
I'm looking forward to it becasue I'm planning to go full VR in 2018 but need to reconfigure my PC or get a new one for that purpose.

A kind of loyality discount for RoF owners would be highly welcome and would probably make it an instant purchase for me. :) Still, that's for them to decide. If no such offer will be available, I won't get it immediately, as the original RoF still offers tons of content I haven't even touched.

VR... I'll have another look at it some two or three years down the line, as I'm not in for a substantial PC upgrade anytime soon. For the time being, my "sim 'pit" and the recently aquired triple monitor setup offers plenty of immersion. :)

As far as I can tell, there will be some kind of discount for RoF owners. I just can't say what it will be. We need to wait and see.
