RNG Crafting is a good idea

BORDERLANDS

According to Gearbox Software, there are over 17,750,000 different variations of weapons in Borderlands, as of its release. Borderlands uses a procedural process to generate its various guns in certain classes, such as handguns, shotguns, assault rifles, sniper rifles, and more, but with many variations of firing speed, reload speed, damage type and more.

We could have 17,750,000 weapons modules etc.

It wouldn't be very random if the generated variables are evaluated on circumstance. RNG systems typically use time as a pseudo random generator; they don't try to make people that can't cope with losing a winner.
....it was an example of a pool rng system, and I actually didn't do it right.

Say you have 5 points you can put into, whatever, but you can also subtract points.
So you have, damage, rate of fire, cooling, accuracy.
lets say -5 is lowest value.

You could get: damage +2, rate +2, cooling +1, accuracy +0
But you could also get: damage +20, rate - 5, cooling - 5, accuracy - 5
or any random variation, the pool is limited so in order to get a certain value, it needs to be given taken from somewhere.

RNG can be a blessing if handled well, a curse if poorly designed.

When it comes to 2.1, based on what FD pulled so far in terms of special modules (*cough* PP *cough* missiles *cough*), they will probably be unbalanced, then overpowered, then nerfed to death and finally put on hold until yet another pass coming "soon" in season 5.3.

I wouldn't worry too much if I were you guys.

I think 2.2 will come in rather soon after, adding fighters to ships is going to upset combat balance again, soo it is going to be an ongoing thing to balance, especially if fighters can get modifications?

Say, have a fighter with ammo to light up target so they can't stealth, then big ship lights the now easy target up.

I usually don't like RNG, but it's a great deterrent for min/maxing. With it's implementation, it will take far longer for people to realize what the new "meta" build will be, if there is one, and most people will have a variety of effects as opposed to the same 3 that would probably occur if RNG wasn't involved. Thanks FD!

EDIT: To clarify, you buggers, I don't believe just because you purchased this game, you are entitled to every single upgrade at your choosing, or at all. The rarity and difficulty of finding the materials for the weapons, which shouldn't be as difficult as 2.0, will most likely make this game great again.

Dollars to donuts that 99% of all complaining are flying a stealth rail DBS or FDL with the black paintjob and HRPs, which they upgraded to from their SCB wagon.
