This is beginners primer for CMDRs wanting an Easy Button for the Robigo Mines/Sirius Atmospherics Tourist Beacon in Sothis system passenger grind for credits. There is very decent credit to be earned for a confident, brave and competent CMDR in a properly fitted ship who is willing to take some risks.
The run consists of stacking "illegal" (i.e.: WANTED criminal kingpins and etc.) passenger missions, taking those passengers to witness the wonder of the Sirius Atmospherics Beacon, passively scanning the beacon using your ship sensors and returning your passengers to Robigo Mines without your ship getting scanned or otherwise interfered with. Sounds simple enough and it is, if you are good enough, if you are fast enough and if you are slick enough.
Your Robigo Run story begins in the bubble, or it should, with a Python. If you do not have a Python you can do the run in a smaller ship but earnings will be sharply reduced. The Python is the highest passenger capacity medium-landing-pad capable ship which will maximize profit per trip and reduce grinding time. Incidentally, when your Robigo story ends and you have earned "enough" credit stop off in Sothis system, Newholm Station and pick up a cargo hold full of Sothis Crystalline Gold, a rare commodity. Haul it back to the bubble, pirates chasing you the whole way, to sell for a very decent amount of profit back in the bubble.
Anyhow, start with a Python. This will be a specialized build, for this job: A-rated FSD module (extended range mod, mass manager effect); D-rated everything else, as much as possible (all modified for lightweight or stripped down wherever possible) and a minimum size D-rated shield generator, just for landings since we are definitely not looking for combat. On that note, no weapons, they're heavy. The (likely) larger slot that the shield generator would normally be installed in will go to another passenger cabin. Put an A-rated fuel scoop in the largest optional slot but purchase a business-class cabin the same size as the fuel scoop and store it. Later you will transfer this passenger cabin to Robigo system to replace your fuel scoop (mo' money). The rest of the optional slots go to business-class cabins and one or two small first-class cabins. Criminal kingpins do not fly in economy-class and they do not share cabins with anyone else but their crew.
That's it. No cargo racks, no shield boosters, no scanners or training wheels. Absolutely nothing that is not needed. The goal is to make it from Robigo Mines to Sothis System in two jumps, in a Python loaded with passengers and returning without scooping fuel. You must get into the habit of BUYINB FUEL FIRST THING ON LANDING, each and every trip.
Fly your Python to HAUSER'S REACH in Robigo system to start your run. Store your fuel scoop and TRANSFER the passenger cabin you stored back in the bubble to Hauser's Reach. While you wait for the passenger cabin to be transferred maybe take a trip empty, from Hauser's Reach to Sothis and back to familiarize yourself with the trip. Running this type of mission from Hauser's Reach will make you appreciate the shorter distance to Robigo mines later but, BE CAREFUL you do not accept any "illegal passenger" missions at his point, as security is VERY tight at Hauser's Reach and you do not want to get scanned with an illegal passenger aboard. That would be bad.
The run itself is simple. Plot a course to the Sothis system, it should plot as 2 jumps. If it plots as 3 jumps there is likely something wrong in your outfitting, your ship should make it in 2 jumps. The Sirius Atmospherics beacon is located in Sothis system, planet A5. Target the planet and when you get within 1000 LS the Sirius Atmo beacon will show up in the HUD and in the NAV panel. Drop out of supercruise at the beacon, point your ship at the beacon, designate the beacon as a target and your ship should scan it. When the scan completes, plot a course and return to your point of departure.
So you have returned to Hauser's Reach and your passenger cabin has arrived. Fit it into the slot your fuel scoop was in and fly to the Robigo Mines outpost. The selection of passenger missions to the beacon will be limited until you reach ALLIED rep with all of the local factions at Robigo Mines. Consider accepting mission payments in REP until you are ALLIED with all the local factions.
The money is in running passenger missions for "illegal" passengers but, early on you might not be able to be picky (REP) so take ANY passenger mission to the beacon, stacking as many as possible. You will likely not fill your ship until your REP builds a bit so when you have accepted as many missions as are available, SPLIT!
The trick here is speed. Get in, scan da beacon, get back to Robigo Mines, GET FUEL!, get paid (and don't get scanned). Rinse, Repeat. Don't get scanned because criminals hate getting scanned and you will at best fail a bunch of missions. At worst, your ship will get blown out of space because you have no weapons and weak shields and local security wants that criminal aboard your ship dead. So Get Fast and Do Not Get Scanned.
Once you have enough local REP and can fill your ship with missions, switch to payment in credits to maximize profit. When you are finished and want to return to the bubble do not forget to go to Hauser's Reach and get your fuel scoop. o7
