General / Off-Topic Roller Coaster Tycoon Adventures: The Deception Rolls ON....

Looks like Atari is moving ahead full swing with their Switch version of Roller Coaster Tycoon Touch.

http://www.rollercoastertycoon.com/adventures/

Look at some of the marketing ploys they are using here,

"Over 200 wonderfully wacky rides, restaurants, shops and decorations "

"Pick from over 50 vivid colors to customize ride"

But my personal favorite:

"System Requirements: Nintendo Switch."

Curious if they can even release this without it having issues.

Some other interesting things I've noticed:
1.) No screen shots show any guests walking around.
2.) There doesn't appear to be a curved pathing system in place.
3.) It appears PXP has been completely removed from the game.
4.) Curiously no shots of UI elements.

Some how I think they will try to push some microtransactions into the game as well...

Game releases "Q4 of 2018" Any thoughts on this one folks?

Lol they still show that screenshot of a front coaster car that is pushing (and clipping into) the last car of a coaster train. And clicking on the screenshot opens a screenshot of RCT1 Deluxe (not Classic). The latter can even be considered false advertisement since I can image that people would have preferred a port of RCT Classic for the Switch instead of this re-hash of Touch. Well at least they fixed the system requirements, a few months ago they mentioned that a PSVR Headset is required. Good luck hooking that thing up to a Switch. [squeeeeee]

Originally I was going to reply with "No comment", but then I decided to check that link of the game's website...

If you take that website literally, no one can play RCT Adventures on a Nintendo Switch, because it requires:
Hard Disc Space: 4 GB

To the best of my knowledge a Nintendo Switch does not have a hard disk drive. It has flash memory.

I also noticed the mountains... That is, if you can call it mountains.
And there's the icons on facility buildings that are faced upwards. Useful for the player, but not visible from the perspective of any guest. I guess Atari doesn't want to go for realism with this game.

Sigh...

I think the best word to sum that up is shortcuts. I think shortcuts are the best way to describe anything done by Atari an Nvizzo with RCT in the last 10 years. They didn't do anything the right way. The took the path of least cost and least work. Even if that means in the end it lacks any quality.

Its a shame and I've come to the conclusion that Chris Sawyer doesn't seem to hold any care or honor for the franchise's future. I think its fair to say RCT is dead. :(

Seems like an accurate conclusion. I agree.

There isn’t microtransactions haven’t you seen the gameplay videos on YouTube

RCTW is crap. But, are their park sizes bigger than Planet Coaster? I also want that nice Gravitron ride to come to PC. RCT3 had one. The flying saucer/spaceship type ride that spins and people are stuck to the wall inside.

At least Atari has bought a theme park game to Nintendo Switch Frontier are too scared to be Planet Coaster to Nintendo Switch I thought do like money

Do you think that Planet Coaster will run on a Nintendo Switch?

(it won't, as it doesn't meet the minimum system requirements).

A version of the game for a Nintendo Switch would have to be severely downgraded before it can run on that device. In other words, Frontier would have to take out everything that makes Planet Coaster "Planet Coaster".

[haha][haha][haha]

Enjoy your game I would say.
It will still be the same RCT crap Atari releases all the time.

So Planet Coaster has got 8 GB RAM of Memory and Nintendo Switch has got 4GB RAM of Memory is that why

The switch is a device thats mainly optimized for mobile use. It has just an small and really slow NVidia SoC as Processor and Graphics Card. This thing is even much slower than the SoC`s of the PlayStation 4 Pro and XBox One X and even these Consoles are not powerful enough to handle a Game like Planet Coaster.

You can not Compare games like PanCo with the usual Console Title. There is a reason why there are no games on consoles which give you unlimited freedom to place everything wherever you want and even without any restriction to the number of pieces or objects on the map. This is the reason why PlanCo can just and only work on a PC.

Amen to that!

It be different when the Switch Pro comes rumours are saying it have 8GB Of Memory

Sorry, but no, that would not be different. The amount of RAM of a device is only part of the minimum requirements.

Planet Coaster requires a high end Intel or AMD CPU (processor) with at least 4 cores at 2.80 GHz base frequency per core.

The Nintendo Switch CPU cores are clocked at 1.02 GHz, as revealed by DigitalFoundry. (source: Wikipedia). That is far below the minimum requirements of Planet Coaster.

Also, Planet Coaster requires DirectX 11 or later in order to run. Only Windows 7 and later have support for this version of DirectX. I'm not an expert regarding the Nintendo Switch, but I do know that it doesn't have any form of Windows as operating system.

It's safe to say that it can be ruled out that the current version of Planet Coaster for pc can be adapted for Nintendo Switch devices.

It would be nice for Nintendo (or another video game company) to develop a console with a processor that uses 2.80 GHz. That, and a mouse similar to the SNES Mouse as well as a keyboard, could allow it to run Planet Coaster.

Again, sorry, but no, that would not allow it to run Planet Coaster.

I hope that you guys do realise that a device will have to meet ALL of the minimum requirements of Planet Coaster? The game WILL NOT be able to run on a device if those minimum requirements are not met.
  • CPU
  • GPU
  • RAM
  • OS (operating system)
  • Storage
  • Network access

In case of Planet Coaster, the device would have to run on Windows 7 or higher. Windows is an operating system for personal computers (Xbox uses a Windows-based OS). Windows is not an operating system for handheld consoles, especially not for Nintendo devices, as Nintendo uses their own OS.

If a device does not run on Windows 7 or higher, then Planet Coaster will not be able to run on that device. Not now, and also not in the future.

At that Point, why not play it on the PC instead? If you need cumbersome input devices like Keyboard and Mouse, then playing it on Consoles makes this a completely pointless exercize.

Do you want to sit in a Cafe with your mini sized Monitor of the Switch and a Keyboard and Mouse so you can play Planet Coaster on the Go?

Even for Home Consoles this makes little sense.
