General / Off-Topic Roller Coaster Tycoon Adventures: The Deception Rolls ON....

There is a RollerCoaster Tycoon fan page, they attempt to post boasting posts for RCT-T and the like. Every single post of there is met with people blasting the current state of RCT and Atari. Its pretty wonderful really. Although there appears to be one person on that page who seems to champion all the games. Curious if thats the real DEATHTOME.

I really hope eventually the series gets a proper game it deserves. Sadly I can't see that happening anytime soon. SO glad Planet Coaster and Parkitect exist.

They clearly did not for RCTW!

Nope. They didn't even listen to the beta testers they themselves asked to test and give feedback on the game. Atari after Matt left pretended the beta team didn't exist, Nvizzio just got mad and huffy whenever testers pointed out flaws or made suggestions Nvizzio didn't like. As bad as the game ended up it would have been far worse if it wasn't for the beta's pushing back on some of their ideas, but Atari/Nvizzio really didn't like the input

In any case they just walked away without even a 'thanks for your time and effort', and just plain quit interacting with the beta's at all. It's no wonder some of the beta testing team asked that their names be removed from the game credits...

Yeah, those were sad times... I know that the beta testing team tried their best. Unfortunately, most of the feedback and suggestions were disregarded or simply ignored.

The crowd-funding campaign said:

"At least $250 (which is the minimum amount to invest): Earn a pro rata share of 50% of profits up to 120%, after that, a pro rata share of 25% of profits until 18 months after the worldwide launch of the game."

From what I've seen of the game, I seriously doubt it will sell anywhere near enough to be able to give the would-be investors back even 25% of their investments...

The campaign page was taken down way before the end date, so I guess it was cancelled due to the backlash. Which also means that are not obligated to pay out anything at all. And I hope/ assume they didn't receive their funding either, but we may never know.

My review of Roller Coaster Tycoon Adventures

I've been playing around in sandbox mode mostly and so far from what I have played it's a really enjoyable game I am really liking what I am seeing for the most part. There are a lot of rides to place down though the coasters are limited, there are 48 different other rides to place down and there are numerous types of different fair style games to place as well, a circus, different kinds of fun houses, many different types of food vendors. It's a really good game though a bit more streamlined, you place down janitor stations, bathroom and entertainers, bathrooms and they will cover a certain zone so they will need to be strategically placed around the park. You don't need to do hiring just place down a station in a spot. This is a game well suited for beginners but others will find some enjoyment.

Here is the downside, the somewhat confusing coaster creator and tutorial for the creation was a little confusing as well but it's doable I'm sure once I get the hang of it. You don't get to see your guests lining up for rides and interaction with them is minimal and you only get to read their thoughts sometimes. I hope the water park expansion from RCT touch will get ported over, it's conceivable that anything made for RCT Touch could get added to RCT adventures since it is based on that game.

so overall I would say pick up the game despite it's small problems it's an entertaining experience.

I forgot to mention a few things, you can't name the rides or your park for that matter and if there is a way I couldn't find it also can't save roller coasters you created yourself.

Fun houses? I’d love to see them without buying the game. What system is it for? Now with the rotating barrel made in Planet by Sarrah, that would go good with a fake fun house in PC. I feel that console coaster games are too limiting, even if they have more interactivity than PC like midway games, etc. because in computer coaster games you can build what you want and there is more flexibility.

It is for the Nintendo Switch, it's on the e shop and a physical copy will be out at the end of the month. The fun house isn't really like interactive just something you place down to make money like in past RCT games.

The Game might be ok, but all the Things surrounding it makes me sick. The whole thing with the Crowdfunding (even though they boasted to have loads of cash with revenue from their IPs) and the Fact all the RCT Games since 3 were horrible failures. The 3DS Version was horrible, RCT World was horrible,RCT 4 was Trash, RCT Touch is just a money grab... so you have to forgive me when i am pretty cynical about that Company and their outputs.

I think it will come down to user expectations of the game. I believe RCT-T and by extension RCT-A was developed for people who have little attachment to the game series. Either first time players or for people who have brief memories of the previous games. If you are coming into this expecting deeper management, or even a Planet Coaster like experience your going to be disappointed. Id even go so far to say if you expect it to play like previous (good) RCT games , your going to be disappointed. However if you dont want to invest much effort into management, and you dont care about things like naming ride and customization you can probably have some fun with RCT-A, especially if you liked RCT-T. However looking at this in a vacuum, even if no other RCT game existed. From the reviews I've read the game has some technical issues. Those would have to be addressed before I could recommend anything to anyone.

In the interview:

"TF: Atari attempted to crowdfund RollerCoaster Tycoon Adventures on StartEngine. Was this strategy successful, and is it something Atari plans on doing for future titles?

MP: When we first announced we were developing RollerCoaster Tycoon Adventures it was in conjunction with StartEngine, one of the leading equity crowdfunding platforms in the U.S. This was a test for us to see if it made sense for Atari to try some new sources of funding to see if these sources could be available down the road for more games.

We have always promised to deliver the title with or without StartEngine. We are delivering on our promise and are excited that RollerCoaster Tycoon Adventures is available now in Europe and coming to North America on December 13, 2018."

And not even to Steam but exclusively on that scummy Epic Store that keeps violating new privacy regulations every few weeks and just disregard consumer rights in general! A match made in heaven, you can't make this stuff up. [big grin]

Typical Atari...they can't even add the correct description to the crap they are trying to sell. No proof-reading and likely no one will notice it for weeks...
