General / Off-Topic Rollercoaster Dreams (PS4 / PS VR)

When I thought I have seen everything from the other game, now we have Rollercoaster Dreams for PS4 and Playstation VR.

Here is the announcement trailer for this game.

Is this a sad, new update for Rollercoaster Tycoon World?
If so, then great, it's looking better than ever.
Otherwise, Wow, retro, really? This is pre-pre-Alpha ,right? (walks away and is sick in my mouth).

Looks alot like a successor to Dreamworks Coaster on Dreamcast, and Rollercoaster World on PS2, both have the same white wireframe thing, the buzzing noise when the track becomes dangerous 8D and even the weird log type car.

RCTW beta did look better than this game when I tried it, but what I can't understand why Sony is announcing this game in their official playstation youtube channel when just by looking at some of the rides they aren't even textured.

By the way, did anyone show them some of the videos how guest from RCTW looks like before they teasing their zombies?

Now RCTW has a game they can really compete with.

There is no competition, this game is even worst than RCTW. What it upsets me is that the PS4 has a great hardware to do better stuff what this company came up with. I'm a PS+ member and I have been waiting for so long that a theme park tycoon arrive to this platform and they literally killed any hope of getting a decent game of this genre in a console.

The previous games in the series didn't really have the whole tycoon thing going on, I wouldn't really compare them~
If I remember correctly, Rollercoaster World and Coasterworks (thought it was called dreamworks coaster) just told you to make something and reach an intensity rating or length.

Those "guests" look alot better than RCTW's though haha

It just looks exactly the same as Rollercoaster World. Its shameful. Same track, same dodgy placement cursor, same skyscrapers. Even the ui still looks like it's from the ps2 days. The only noticable thing that this company appear to have done is add wheels to the same coaster trains that already existed and actually make people that move. Its just shameful.

Given the choice i'd take RCTW anyday over this mess. (given that I already own a ps2 and the original version)

It looks as though they are planning a release in October this year, so this can't be far off the completed model. Shame, as it doesn't actually look too bad (if it was still in alpha). I'll stick with PC though :)

[where is it][woah]...and I've thought RCTW looks bland and boring...but this...:D this looks even worse. Maybe atari created this trailer to make RCTW look better next to it?[hehe]

But I must admit...the peeps - although they looks bland and unmotivated - are looking (and moving) better than the RCTW ones.

Best delayed April Fools joke I've seen to date! [yesnod]

I guess some people felt bad for the way RCT went the way of the Dodo and decided to make it look good by making something even worse than world.

Seems Bimboosoft has a lot of knowledge in doing such games.

Though i have to admit the flats don't look that bad. Most of them are missing (sometimes vital) details.
There overall desing seems to me really "shallow" and not really suitable for 2016.

Some things don't look too bad, Stig has it on the mark and playable games in VR is something that RCTW doens't offer. They also had different skins for the same ride (pirate swing ship/space rocket)

Yeah it's not great but it isn't actually that far behind RCTW for a lot of it and does some better which is shocking.

You're right, some of it doesn't look too bad, but for me, after spending countless hours playing the original "RollerCoaster World" it just looks exactly the same as that did in 2002 when it was released for ps2. The only thing that impresses me for this being a 2016 release is the fact that it does have proper people in it who look much better than the RCTW ones (Roller Coaster World's people were just billboarding 2d cutouts)

Well, okay, of course if you compare it to games like planet coaster, it's not even close to holding up, but...
Let's face it, this is a "discount bin" game.
The sort of game that isn't made by a studio, but rather by a person or two.
Now, that's not an excuse (Parkitect is made by 3 people, Rollercaoster tycoon 1 was the work of Chris Sawyer), but...

FOR A DISCOUNT BIN GAME it doesn't look too bad, honestly. I've certainly seen worse.
It doesn't look like it's completely lacking any effort, some love went into it and the coaster designer seems better than I've seen in similar games.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm not gonna pay money for this or anything, but, I dunno, if I was a kid and my dad picked this up for me at the store I'd give it a whirl. Might even enjoy it.

Sort of agree with Tomix, games that have clearly been developed by folks with ambitions beyond their reach can be charming. It does seem to lack some basic modern rendering techniques, like lighting, but that won't change whether it's fun. I don't think this sort of thing should end up on Sony's official channel though. I like that smaller devs have access to publish digitally on consoles, but there should be an implied level of quality for Sony to promote it.

At 1:26 I was like "did...did I just see someone get flung out of a car?" Then I saw the end where about 20 people go flying out of the car.[rolleyes]

In all honestly it's an interesting concept. The graphics are awful but I like the direction they were going. I like how carnival style the flat rides are. Could have been an interesting take on the theme park sim.

At first I thought it was an improved RCTW, and actually a few of the items looked better than RCTW. That is until I s aw the zombie dance. At that point I thought "they got to be joking right?" Then there was that crazy coaster throwing everybody out of the train and finally the train going off the track. If it was about $5 for the PC, I might be tempted to buy it just for a laugh.
