RCT 3 PC Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 won't launch in Windows 10

Ok - I recently re-installed RCT3 in my Windows 10 system. I am getting Bad Version: 5 - Error sent to Debug.log besides the black screen. My game is from a retail purchased CD and is Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 3.0.12.58. System is Windows 10 Home and has been completely updated. This whole issue started when I attempted to update the RCT3 thru the suggested RCT3Plus​. Before that it was running great.

If I read it right, this error message seems to suggest a problem with some files, the update might have stopped halfway through for some reason.
I found this ftp-site with some updates that are probably for your version, but have not tried it myself.
