Newcomer / Intro Rookie HUD Question

Hi all,
I just started playing ED a couple days ago with a Xbox style gamepad. I quickly decided to go for a basic HOTAS step, and switched to a Logitech X52 unit. Using the supplied key mapping I was able to pick back up ok. However there is one issue I can't figure out. Initially I was able to hit max throttle with the gamepad with the throttle bumpers, and I would have to hit up on the Dpad to get it to accelerate the last little bit. I noticed there was like a key type image that had a line across the throttle gauge in my hud that would get moved when I hit the Dpad. However with the X52, even with the throttle control maxed I can't get past that line that's around 80%. I tried to look through the key mappings, however I don't know the term for it, so I don't know what to look for. Could anyone give me an idea what I need to look for/change to fix this? Thanks in advance.

Jay

Blue line in your image, is optimal motor throttle range for maneuvering, yellow in the middle is current motor output, and the yellow line on the right is current target throttle, you can't move it more than that, it's currently at max in your image. You can use your pip to motors to extend it a bit. You can buy a better motor or engineer it to get more speed.

I understand the blue area being the ideal speed range to maneuver. I don't understand how changing my type of controller would reduce the over all speed my ship can attain as it's the same ship with no changes and it could accelerate to a higher speed ( 280ish previously as opposed to the 217 it seem to be capped at now)

PIPS

Full pips to engines the throttle line can go to the top - with fewer pips then the full throttle position is lower.

Your image looks like 2 pips to engines to me.
I did the calibration check in the X52 software. Is there one inside ED that I missed?

Maybe these two pics clarify what Para means.
Throttle full in both cases.

I went a head and redid the joystick and throttle calibration in the X52 software, and then in game reset all the PIPS to have 4 ENG 2 SYS ( which how it started out) and I can now again get full throttle. Not sure which fixed it, but it's fixed regardless. Thank you all for the assistance.

When I went back into the game to check it had 4 PIPS on ENG and 2 on SYS, and to my knowledge I had not done anything with the PIPS previously. So unless it rests upon restarting of the game, I'm not sure it was at 2 PIPs.

Try it in the game and see what your throttle max line looks like with 2 pips then compare with your image in the OP. Seriously, if you cannot accept what someone tells you then what is the point of asking a question.

Don't forget that you can have two bindings for most of the bindings, which gives you the option of using the keyboard as well as your HOTAS, or you can use the keyboard for controls that won't fit on your HOTAS after you've run out of buttons. The keyboard and mouse can be more useful for things like the galaxy and system maps. A scroll mouse is better for the DSS and FSS. When I used an X52, I always had keys on the keyboard bound to 0%, 75% and 100% throttle.

I was given two suggestions to fix the problem, I tried both of them, and the issue was fixed. I was happy the issue was fixed, and I posted saying not sure which did it but it was fixed and thank you to everyone. I'm sorry that this was not a sufficient response for you. I did not think I needed to go back and investigate which fix did it, but apparently you needed to be told it was your suggestion that absolutely was the correct one. So thank you Para Handy, it was of course your suggestion with out question.

That's a great point. I'm still figuring out what I specific functions I'll need mapped out but those throttle hotkeys sound like a solid idea.

My point was that you asked a question and the explanation was given to you so that you would understand what the game was doing. Since you didn't seem to understand what bit of your "fiddling" corrected the issue and continuesd to insist you had 4 pips to ENG I made my post suggesting you checking what happens in game so you can see the effect of pips to ENG. I was not seeking any attribution or anything.
