Route plotting issue

i am working on my 5k ly from home system and riding the neutron highway to make it faster. i am in a system charged and ready to jump to the next one. but it wants to take me the non charged way with 4 jumps. i should be able to do it in one. what am i doing wrong. here is a screen shot with my route settings. i have a 282 ly jump range and i want to go 258ly. wont do it in one jump. what can i do to solve this?

You need to set fastest route + use jet-cone boost (=neutron+white dwarf boost).

You could also set manually the star you wish to jump with "target" symbol on the right side, or even plot your route there.
(Regard, that for example spansh route plotter uses a wider scale for use of neutron high way, so you probably won't get the same routes in game as in third party tools, if using.)

that was the first thing i tried.

No idea by me so far... looks strange, can't see you're doing anything wrong... first idea was "maybe permit locked", but since you can route there...

Tried to target it manually?

Maybe also you need to use "recalculate".
If you played horizons, iirc it plotted a new route instantly as soon you changed parameters, odyssey don't to that.
atm i'm back from a small trip >10k ly away, used a lot of neutron stars and never had any problem (except the wrong plotting after relogging, described in another thread).

just trried switching settings. i get 38 jumps on the econ choice. 4 on the fastest with jet boost clicked. and 4 selecting the fsd boost manual option and leaving it at max. i don't get why the game wont plat a route that is clearly in my available range. i've seen a lot of bugs on this game. this one is on another level. should be a simple calculation.

I have no further idea... maybe ED just got a problem, if the first jump is from neutron and it won't calculate the exact range you already have. Just realized, that the neutron in HIP 41817 is not the primary? Maybe this is also the problem. Too bad - i'm too far away atm, to test myself... 3,3k ly to go...
Yes, too many bugs... At least on a longer route i had no other problem with the in-game plotting (except the mentioned after relog), including neutron.

The route plotter should be able to plot a route using jet-cone boosts - maybe it just doesn't like plotting it if one has already supercharged the FSD?

Synthesis-boosts though have to be plotted manually.

OK It should work with Fastest route + jet cone boost selected, and the route recalculated (I'm a very experienced Fuel Rat and deal with this all the time). The info below is reasonably accurate, and proven across multiple installations.

Current Galmap routing bugs (As of Odyssey U14):
1) Routing mode is not set after game login. Post U14, the UI setting is restored, but the setting is not set properly behind the scenes.

Background: My observation (this bit is representative but is not 100% proven or might vary across systems) is that in this uninitialised state, galmap plots as Fastest route, with jetcone boost, NO filters, and ZERO cargo. (meaning if you have cargo, it can plot over-length jumps)
Workaround: After game login, toggle "Fastest route" to "Economical route", and back to "Fastest route". Select "Use Jetcone boost" if you wish (you need it for your issue above0.

2) "Apply Filter to route" can go missing from filters, or filters can become corrupted between logins.
Background: The setting can go AWOL on its own or if you click around filters, and a casual glance at the Star Class filter will appear in order, you need to scroll down to see that "Apply filter to route" is gone :/
Workaround: If using a filter based on star class (or other filter that has "Apply filter to route" selected). Check that setting is still there after logon (or if the filter appears to fail).

3) If you end up in a Neutron system or White Dwarf system, Galmap will not plot an unboosted jump out.

Workaround: If you choose not to supercharge your FSD and the plotted jump segment is over your jump range, you will need to target an adjacent star manually, jump out, then let your route re-plot.

4) In some cases the recalculate button might not not enable, or if enabled, function correctly.
Workaround: If you suspect an issue, clear your route then replot from scratch.

A bit of a palaver, but follow those workarounds, Galmap should work enough to get around.

Ho Hummmmmm....

Yea, the Gal map Filters are a Bit Buggy after they fixed the "Direct Connections" View settings in the Gal map Filters. And the map Shows the correct settings, but as said above, they are not realy AS shown.

Just Go to Eco Route, calculate, get an Error "only 1000 ly in Eco bla bla" Back to fast, reactivate Neutron jump and hit calculate...

I've had issues in the past with the plotter ignoring any stars except the primary. I figured it was looking for the fastest route as requested, and a long supercruise run to the non-primary was obviously not fast. Fastest route does not mean least amount of jumps.

No need to do a plot in eco to fix the bug, just flip route mode. Of course you prob need to to a second flip to get back to the setting you wanted. Then plot the route that you want. That will fix it.

This is not the first time that FDev have fixed a bug that is visible in the UI as well as having internal settiungs behind he scened by fixing just the UI element and not ensuring that the behind the scenes stuff gets fixed as well. The rats have a longstanding issue with navlock drop in Odyonly forking for the first rat that a client adds to their team. this was also visible as the square Navlock corner braces on the team icon not being present. That feedback at least warned us that we were affected by the bug, or the fuel client was in a position where navlock drop would not work at all. FDev fixed the bug by ensuring the corner braces always appeared without fixing the actual navlock drop issue. The bug report about that jas been open about 14 months now, Tier 5 voted on, and still no fix :(

For me, FSD Boost in Route Settings no longer works AT ALL since the last update, i.e., even if I select it, and then plot a route. It acts as though I just have my normal jump range.

I'm in the black and would like to get back to the bubble for some bugfighting, but this bug makes neutron-hopping VERY cumbersome. An important issue that should be a very easy fix.

@Syd_Tenebrous Try toggling route mode Fastest -> Economical -> Fastest each time you log in. I don't know if that will fix the FSD boost issue that you are talking about, but it certainly fixes some of the other route plotting bugs.

It's never worked. The route plotter has never worked with a FSD boost of any kind. You have to manually plot a boosted jump.
Are you referring to 4.0? I don't think I've tested in 4.0 (as I usually take my FC for long distances now), but this definitely works in 3.8 (so "never" doesn't seem to be accurate).

Syd Tenebrous is trying to plot a jump with an FSD boost. That has never worked. You can plot a route that will take you to neutrons and WDs. That is not what he is asking though.

I have no idea what you mean. You've got to be able to plot the route to be able to jump (and that route can be a single jump).
