Route plotting - leisurely mode

I discovered this completely by accident last night and realised it is a good way to balance travel speed and seeing a decent number of systems, without resorting to economical mode (which is very slow).

You will need a Guardian FSD booster. This works best with ships that already have a reasonable jump range without it.

Here’s how to plot ‘leisurely’ routes:
  1. Deactivate Guardian FSD booster.
  2. Plot route to where you want to go.
  3. Reactivate Guardian FSD booster.

You have now plotted a route using your non-boosted jump range. For me this is still ~50LY, so I am still travelling quite quickly but seeing more systems than I would making maximum distance jumps. The added bonus is that with the booster reactivated for the actual flight, your fuel consumption drops considerably, so you can plot using all star types (not just OBAFGKM) without having to worry about running out. Plus scooping is quicker.

Have fun Commanders - and fly leisurely!

Huh? I have only 43ly range in my Vette with booster activated, but i really have to try that one out. :)

Thanks for the tip Cmdr!

I've not tried it but I read a while ago that if you carry a cargo rack you can also set that to X tonnes of cargo in the route plotter and it'll plot your route the range as if you had that cargo amount.

I planned to make my exploracobra have a lower class fuel tank. I think I will combo this technique as well in when I get around to grind for the FSD Booster.

Ah yes, have forgotten this completely. :D
But does this has the same effect?

Hey, great idea! Usually I'm trying to travel quickly... that is, exploring along the way, but also trying to get to the destination location in as few jumps as possible, if I can help it.

BUT, there have been times where I've wanted to do exactly this, so that I could spend a little less time scooping and also see a few more systems. For some reason I never thought to try this.

I've used a cargo rack for the same thing, but this is an awesome idea! You'll lose more range than most cargo racks could give you, so your fuel consumption would be way down!

I am a boring old fart set in his ways.
All my exploration ships have half size tanks with max sized fuel scoops, and maxed cooling robert plants) :)
(I only worry after 2 non-fuel jumps)
