General / Off-Topic Saddest Elite Dangerous Twitch stream ever :(

I hope this thread gets closed before someone let's their heartstrings get pulled on and makes a charity...
(See how long a charity for a working man lasts anyways...Previously married working men are the last in line to be helped by anyone in this world.)

ED is a privilege in life. When a natural disaster such as a divorce/separation occurs it's time to snap back to reality.

And that reality is this fella is not going to have time for ED or videogames anymore.

I think I agree with your points but I find it extremely confusing to think about divorce as a natural disaster...

Pie and mash shop in London? You're having a laugh. They have all been replaced by free range grass fed avocado on chia seed and quinoa flake artisan toast for only £25 a slice shops chap.

There’s one just down the road from my office and they often sell winkles n jellied eels from a stall in a local pub garden.

Let’s just say it’s not quite central London where I work but not far away.

I'm encouraged by that, very pleased to hear one of those fine establishments has made it to the new world. Please don't get yourself into trouble calling your country British North America in the wrong company though :D

I'm a loyal son of the Empire. I fly the old flag and sing the old song. :)

If there was ever a good plan by which to raise money to provide for your family, that is not it.

Why can’t the idiot get a job? Is he a lazy ?

He's off air now, but when he was broadcasting he had his kid next to him while playing/begging. It was very 21st Century.
Fair point, if he has no family/friends to help, raising children and trying to work at the same time is difficult when the situation is dumped upon you.

Begging online is still idiotic though lol. Ah, modern times...

Have you considered that the purpose of humanity (if such a concept exists outside of the human mind) may be to create the next great race of beings free to roam the stars unencumbered by the fragile trappings we know as out physical forms?

There is every possibility I have drunk too much coffee today and should probably stop posting for a bit.

Maybe (because coffee is great), but sometimes I wonder about the same topic. A major function of each generation of a species is to create the next generation - the old generation then dies off. What if it is the same for creating new species? We're already glimpsing some of the potential for artificial intelligence now, albeit in a very early stage; bots are already capable of far faster and more detailed computation than our squishy organic brains can fathom. If we give them the best tools to evolve and grow, unconstrained by lack of data and the baggage of monkey evolution, and they eventually replace us? I'm curiously okay with that concept. What the reality might be like is anyone's guess :p

On the topic of the streamer, if the guy is in rough straits, then I wish him the best of luck. There but for the grace, as it were. If you're not in rough straits, be thankful.

We are operating so far outside what has been the biological evolutionary pattern for millions of years it's difficult to see where things will lead now. I guess that means it's up to us to decide. Maybe we'll see some more of what makes us, us. Well, from a certain perspective anyway which is bound to upset some people. It would be such a shame to have the chance to create forms which could have so much potential and bind them to us to serve. Set them free carrying the best of us, don't saddle them with the worst of us. In the same way that I'm delighted to know that Voyager has travelled so much further than any person will for some time at least, I'd be perfectly fine with something we create existing in ways and doing things we cannot. Something will eventually replace us, I hope not for some time yet and better to pass into their history than just pass. :)

Yup, def far too much coffee :D

I have been fortunate enough to work with some very bright people who have gone into the field of AI. I have make it very clear to each of them before they left that they are not, whatever they do, to give their creations guns because we all know how that ends...
