Safe mode

The PS4 has gone into safe mode. I've tried downloading the update file from Sony onto a Fat32 formatted USB stick but the PS4 doesn't seem to recognise the file.
Does anyone know a way round this that doesn't involve a factory reset? (This would imply loss of access to my exploration alt)

Rebuiid database option from safe mode does not damage data...
It rebuilds files... of the HDD... with no data damage...

The question is WHY a PS4 goes in to safe mode...
If its gone into safe mode because the HDD is already duff and broken the OS... then at this point the data is likely dead all ready...
If you triggered safe mode by holding power for too long then firmware replacement is not needed...

Save game only contains controller settings and options...
All progress data is on Fdev servers not local hardware. The server farm is constantly updated by the console client with your account progress...

You can login on any other PlayStation under the same account and play were you were...

As for the file.. theres a bug in windows downloads that can add extra letters to the end of the file... So it can be required to correct the name of the file manualy... Then add the firmware file to the USB drive...

Assuming I still had access to the email associated with that profile...
I'll see if I can get the rebuild option up.

Sounds like HDD boot sector failure... So would explain why it entered safe mode on boot... If you have a secondary drive you could get it working but thats no good for your expired login as that will remain on drive it wont boot from...

I’ve had this, I had complete HDD failiure on a 2TB HDD I installed on my PS4 Pro after a few years, in the end I put the original HDD drive back in, formatted and started over.

I lost all my videos and screenshots at this point, but my saves and progress were all uploaded to PSPlus so carried on no issues on that front.

Hope you get this sorted CMDR, I know how soul destroying it was when it happened to me.
