My CMDR career began at ED’s release, and there were no clubbers hanging around in starter systems back then, killing new guys for jollies. Back then, most of those hollow rectangles were just like me – flying around in dinky pre-engineering ships making very slow progress in a game that could be punishingly difficult.
I try to imagine what those early days would been like if some jerk in a G5 murder-boat decided to blow up my ship, repeatedly, because…fun. That would have been quite discouraging.
This is what new players face these days. Trying to get their footing after repeatedly being sent to the rebuy screen by some knuckleheads ‘farming noobs for pew’ (which is a -move, by the way, no matter how you try to justify it).
So way to go FD! A good initiative that will allow new players to get a feel for the game, safe (relatively) from the clubbers!
