Safer travel in Leesti as The Code announce a pirate free zone.

Seeing a lot of typical alliance hypocrisy in some of these posts. You seem to be all in favour of championing self determination for your citizens, right up until that self determination disagrees with the alliance political line. You're no different from the Federation you vilify.

I for one would like to extend a welcome from the Duval Empire to Leesti's new protectors.

You smile at them today freely. Tomorrow you will be free to smile at them staring down the barrel of a plasma cannon.

There was never peace in the New Caribbean. Before we arrived pirating was rife and other groups such as the french Canadians and Cosmic state caused havoc in the area. We have brought stability and order to the area, Well at least to the Independent parts. Our guys have to have their fun and make some money somewhere, so pirating in the Alliance sectors has doubled. If we should liberate them, then they too will become safe places to once again visit and our pirates will move onto new areas.
Support the code, you know it makes sense.

Code... hmm... it's more of a guideline.

The problem with anarchists is that the only thing they can be is anarchists. This is why the code cannot bring happiness, even to those within it. In many places in the galaxy, people are forced to fight for their way of life. I suspect that the code fight for just another variant of a fat banker, who pulls the wool over the eyes of gullible outcasts, enslaving even them in some pretense of anarchistic freedom.

The only code that matters is the one that connects us all: the code of civility, respect and things like not killing people when you drop your rattle.

I predict that one day peace will come to our galaxy, but it will not be through theft, war and destruction.

So by all means carry on with your piracy, but please do yourselves and everyone else a favor and drop the pathetic pretense that you are anything but a rabble unified by some power mad tyrant.

The Code announce a pirate-free zone?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

This has to be some sort of ironic joke.

A hostile takeover by an imperialistic pirate faction is not "self-determination".

The Alliance is a loose confederation for mutual protection. We don't regulate people like your Empire or the Feds do. So your statement is baseless.

Bingo. The Code is no different from any other pirate faction. They're just better organized in their region, and export the violence outside of that tiny section of space, and then act like they are trailblazers for humanity. It's a sick joke.

Fedearation. Empire. Alliance. CODE.
Each claims to be better than the other. To "serve the people" better than the rest. You're all the same. Delusional, power hungry, politician scum hellbent on keeping free men under your yoke. You all can have your tiny little corner of "civilized" space and eat each other alive, for all I care. Out here, thousands of light years away from the last homely house, your petty politics mean jack. I've got everything I need right here... A ship, a fuel scoop, and the horizon.

I'm out in the Black. But Coders should beware because one day, I'll return. And I have a particular interest in this area they call the New Carribean. Or as most of us call it, The Old Worlds.

To each their own. The best proof I can offer you that the Alliance is not like the Fed or the Empire is by wishing you the best of luck on your own without seeking to interfere. That's not what we're about. We Alliance are frontiersman ourselves and understand the call of the horizon.

But should you ever seek strength in numbers against the domineering influence of the two great empires, the Alliance will welcome you should you seek it.

My statement is baseless? This coming from a Thargoid Quizling?

The Duval Empire is the one remaining burning beacon of hope for Humanity's salvation in a galaxy of corruption, fear and darkness. Fear and darkness caused by the likes of the Alliance with it's pseudo-liberal facade hiding it's fascist underpinnings.

A what now?

I don't think you understand what the word "fascist" means. There is no public-private corporatist partnership. There is no centralized state control. We are the least centralized of the three powers. You're really in no position to be calling anyone else fascist. Granted, the Feds are worse than you when it comes to fascism, the only "beacon of hope" in your Empire is your more or less liberal Princess who wants to end slavery. Good on her. Maybe she brings some hope to your empire, but under current leadership? You're totalitarian swine.

ooc: If you read up on your lore, you'll find the Alliance are the reason the Thargoids are back and pose a threat to Humanity again :)

Pft... If you dig beneath the thin veneer of Alliance 'values' you'll find hypocrisy, with dictatorships such as LHS 2637, corporate entities managing systems and even places where actual slavery (The horrible abhorent kind that the naive perceive the noble practice of Imperial servitude as) actually taking place within Alliance space such as LP 167-71.

(OOC: I've been trying but it's hard to find the lore XD)

Yeah, that's true, that's because the Alliance is still in its foundational period. The Alliance doesn't endorse that kind of local behavior, but it's not centralized enough to actually take any stance for or against it. So it's not really the Alliance, it's the local government that happens to have confederated with the Alliance and pooled its defenses with theirs.

You're looking at the Alliance like it's a federal government, which it isn't. There's little central power. The beauty of this is that it allows local governments to experiment, find out what works and what does not. I like to call them laboratories of democracy.

The Alliance's strength is its diversity. Hell, we even have communists. I don't like communists, but mutual defense is mutual defense. We can work out the politics when our backs aren't to the wall. At least we have the potential for future reform. In the bureaucratic and corrupt Fed, or the stratified Empire, that is almost impossible. Face it, the Alliance is poised to be the future for humanity's next great experiments.

The downside is that it allows local tyrannies to form. If I have anything to say about it, though, that will change. We can't really focus on that when we're busy dealing with you s, the Feds, and recently, Code.

So, if you don't mind.. shoo.

Just a quick update to mention we put together an unofficial Galnet video in which we chose to headline this particular story. Thanks to all involved in helping us put this together:

What's this I hear about a war between the Independents and the Feds in Orerve? Is this The Code attacking the Federation as well now? This group just doesn't know when to stop!
