Pft... If you dig beneath the thin veneer of Alliance 'values' you'll find hypocrisy, with dictatorships such as LHS 2637, corporate entities managing systems and even places where actual slavery (The horrible abhorent kind that the naive perceive the noble practice of Imperial servitude as) actually taking place within Alliance space such as LP 167-71.
(OOC: I've been trying but it's hard to find the lore XD)
Yeah, that's true, that's because the Alliance is still in its foundational period. The Alliance doesn't endorse that kind of local behavior, but it's not centralized enough to actually take any stance for or against it. So it's not really the Alliance, it's the local government that happens to have confederated with the Alliance and pooled its defenses with theirs.
You're looking at the Alliance like it's a federal government, which it isn't. There's little central power. The beauty of this is that it allows local governments to experiment, find out what works and what does not. I like to call them laboratories of democracy.
The Alliance's strength is its diversity. Hell, we even have communists. I don't like communists, but mutual defense is mutual defense. We can work out the politics when our backs aren't to the wall. At least we have the potential for future reform. In the bureaucratic and corrupt Fed, or the stratified Empire, that is almost impossible. Face it, the Alliance is poised to be the future for humanity's next great experiments.
The downside is that it allows local tyrannies to form. If I have anything to say about it, though, that will change. We can't really focus on that when we're busy dealing with you s, the Feds, and recently, Code.
So, if you don't mind.. shoo.
