I didn't know about this thread until today, and I hope these date stamped screen shots can serve as proof.

The Mamba had a ~38 year jump range and no AFMU. She's still my favorite ship, though I've had her repainted.

Nice screenies! You're probably not the first to go in a Mamba but great choice of ship, off to Beagle point next??

Speaking of LIGO: When I started out as an astrophotographer some years ago, while reading about astronomy at Wikipedia, I remember asking astronomers what it would be like if two black holes merged. Nobody really knew. I still wonder if energy can escape the merger as light. Does anybody know if that is the case? It's a pretty violent event, and I imagine the event horisons merging creates a strange shape at the moment they merge.

The Mamba is a joy to fly, but I honestly had no idea how long the trip to Sag A* would be. Beagle point? Maybe

There was a better explanation of this on another Wiki page relating to black holes and spin but I can't find it.
Spin in relation to black holes and their formation is quite an interesting subject. Laws of angular momentum suggest that the rate of spin of a black hole should be able to exceed the speed of light after it's collapse from a fast/massive spinning star. It is also impossible for the other reason in that if it did exceed the speed of light then the singularity for (see naked singularity) would become visible. Observation has proved that no black hole candidate seen to date exceeds this limit.
