Hardware & Technical Saitek x52 series Q&A (and general discussion thread) Got a issue? Look in here first.

YAY!
I got it working again.
I re-re-re-reinstalled the driver from the CD, this time with the SST software - It still gave the same error, but then looking through the thread pointed to above, I found a link to this thread: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=26644
and deleted ALL of the other columns except "Mode 1", and the pinky switch had all the options (rather than just "latched" or "unlatched" like before) and setting it to "unprogrammed" got it working again. I then had to set it to "unlatched" to be active only when pressed - when "latched" it's a toggle, except that to go back to forward view, I had to press it 3 times).
Anyway, all working, and thanks to everyone in this and those threads.
Continuing strangeness: There is no icon in the system tray, but as long as it works, I don't care, and I can still get to the profiler and properties via the Windows menu and control panel.
Reps all round! and Happy New Year!

just found this post. have not read all of it but it seems, there is a lot of trouble with the X52 software...

I have an x52 pro and followed the instructions in these videos... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XHS2CyOOTc

Also, if you have a motherboard with Z170 chipset make sure to plug it into the 3.1 port. This port uses a different controller. The standard USB controller for the other USB ports has issues with the X52.
