Salomé has been killed.

At least I can say I landed a couple shots on that Raan fella. Not sure if he is dead or not. But at least I got something. Can't say the same for many others.

There is a bit of salt from people who wanted to get some licks in but instead were left in the dust all of 4 jumps in. I mean my ASP barely kept up. I saw a lot of Corvettes at the start and not so many after a couple jumps. This has been fun for the devs and a few people but I can't help wonder if many others see it that way.

Just posting to check that I still can... or have the forum gods banned me?

--------------------

Seems like I can :)

So people thought SDC were going to protect her?

If so, well done to SDC for smoking her and the event due to the zealots that wanted my loadout etc before allowing me into the system unmolested, in order to protect her. Tools.

Meanwhile, made a few million trading rares whilst the headbangers were all occupied.

THERE WERE NO DEVS.

This was not a Frontier event.

IT was for a book. Nothing more, it was a pointless, scripted non-event that simply didn't work. Like every single event ever tried in this game.

Honestly, people will believe anything if it's polished up enough.

Have to lol.. just watched it as maybe many others...
Everything we know from the game and was expected to happen for that event happened, instancing snafu etc
A lot of streams were boring, seems like most had just a confusing jumpathon.

Anyway, but if there is one thing to be learned (or me learned hopping through different streams) and finally has to be acknowledged it is this. I think all the "ED is going down the drain with all the console players and pew-pew-focus" finally have to admit, the console community is maybe the more mature and friendly one, less pewpew and gank focused, than the rest, but sure disputable, at least they are no worse than the PC crowd.
"Yuri hasn't even been touched" there was to read in multiple chats. Also the organized defense was much more open and welcoming as the elitists from Concorde, which even managed to just gank an "official" (per the FAQ) friendly streamer in an unarmed long range conda, ?
What a mess. Even the kiddies (and read this with a grain of salt, well aware that kids can be way more mature and honest than grown ups) seem to be more friendly on the Xbone oO

And I'm sorry for my opinion in advance!

Waiting for the book with Harry Potter included, I do not like the end, but it is funny, and I have to say congratulation. See his new ship name %)

PS: Sorry, too slow, too old, tooo LOL https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...e-dead-and-especially-the-famous-one-got-her-)

Ok, why are some people so down on this? It wasn't an FDev event, you didn't pay for it, you didn't have to participate, it didn't actually affect your game unless you chose to make it do so, so...stop raining on other people's parade.

I liked it, even though now I'm somewhat depressed by the outcome...

There are currently total morons shooting harry potter outside the station as "revenge", so far like 3 anacondas, some clippers, FDLs etc have all died and given them even more prestige by suicide by a station? I do not get some of the people in this community lol.

And of course, what she wanted to tell everyone is that "they" are coming, they'll be here on Friday, hurry to prepare for war. But now, no warning and we'll all die a horrible death, thanks to SDC. ;)

Reminds me of an Iain M Banks quote (paraphrased as I can't be bothered to look it up) - the first thing I do when I think of a great new thing in a story is how can I blow it up.

Stories are not ended by the death of character, no matter how big. Empires rise and fall as do Federations and Alliances, that's the story.

Good argument why Ironman Mode is needed. ;)

She clutched him to her bosom, "You're so beautiful," she cried
"But if I hadn't brought you in, by now you might have died"
Now she stroked his pretty skin again and then kissed and held him tight
But instead of saying thanks, the snake gave her a vicious bite!

"Now I saved you," cried the woman
And you've bit me, even why?
And you know your bite is poisonous and now I'm going to die"
"Ah shut up, silly woman," said that reptile with a grin
"Now you knew darn well I was a snake before you brought me in.
--- Johnny Rivers, "The Snake"

Hope the lesson has been learned.

Love that song, and so appropriate!

So.. that's it? That's the big community event we were all waiting for? Crashes, disconnections, lag, server errors and suddenly a pitful death we only know thanks to a reddit post? This is actually worst than my already extremely low expectations thought it would be.

I was following Raan, other than the server problems right before the event started I had no problems at all, saw him in multiple systems and talked to him, everything else was as smooth as always on my end. I was quite impressed with the technical side of things to be honest.

That's for sure......

It was like a old B movie plot....

What a load of junk...

From all the tiny bits of information I have gathered, I will make this guess:

- The information Salomé was holding onto was leaked beforehand by Rebecca (on reddit, which was deleted)
- The Thargoids were preparing for war in the formidine rift for years
- Salomé has the ability to travel through time

So I dont think everything is lost here :D

Wow, some of the Defence Force are talking about real life bounties on the Commander, jesus bring it down a notch you salty idiots.

I'm just incredibly saddened by the fact this game is clearly broken. Multicrew just fell apart when it was being used for the purpose it was built for. Instancing is and forever will remain a joke, because the P2P model simply cannot cope with this type of thing - the very thing Frontier keep pushing people to play in Open for.

I have been wanting this game to succeed for YEARS, and even now, with a relatively painless event, it keels over and dies. Never mind the event was heavily preplanned, that's a different complaint.

I vote Frontier give up with Elite Dangerous, start again, and write a properly working game that can cope with the demands being asked of it. Call it Elite: Deadly perhaps.

It was a bit predictable and all went down pretty much as I imagined lots of folks chasing shadows till someone sticks a knife in her back.

That said it is not a failure as two of the VIP's did make it through (yuri is still working on it last I heard) and we will get to see what the message is at some point soon I hope.
