Salomé lives.

Drew has always used Salomé for Kahina Loren. She's definitely dead. I heard the wails of angquish all the way up in Messier 67. Unless the Thargoids brought her back as the Goid Queen, which would be very Zergesque.

Also, I've never heard of Drew unfriending anyone.

Ship destruction doesn't mean pilot death. Did Fdev make an exception to that for Salome?
(I just (incorrectly?) assumed she simply never made it to destination, I wasn't following events all that closely)

So since asking this I've now read the book written about the events, and the book makes it clear it was a death.

The game handwaves the death of our characters upon ship destruction for gameplay purposes. That doesn't mean that, in-universe, anybody who cannot reach the safety of a lifeboat in time will survive ship destruction or magically respawn at the nearest station, this is just silly game logic that isn't meant to accurately represent what happens within this fictional world.

When you blow up a ship in police space, the bounty you get is for murder, not just property damage.

So much for "Killing Salome" event when she just pops up again and says "o7".

You'll note the CMDR name is Kahina Loren, not Salomé. Somebody clearly has adopted the name (which, I suppose, there's no reason they can't as it would, arguably, be a common name in a galaxy of billions) for their CMDR.

Or, perhaps, it's another one of those conspiracies. Cue the youtube videos. ;)

Cheers,

Drew.
