I've seen the mention of the word "Salt" utilized frequently. Looked every where for it's meaning to no avail, what in the ED world is "Salt"?
It's a reference to the salt found in tears. Which despite being reasonably common knowledge many people trying to research the actual amounts found in real tears seemed to struggle to find enough lacrimal fluid to do any controlled test; clearly they haven't been round here much.
One CMDR uses (insert handwavium excuse) to bring "emergent content" to another CMDR, typically blowing up the latter's ship. This player may complain in-game; on Reddit; or on these forums about the incident.... what in the ED world is "Salt"?

The original CMDR has now "mined salt" from the second, who is "salty".
Unfortunately it's very hard to work out what's going on mostly: who was to "blame"; if said emergent content was valid or not; if the second player was even "salty" (as oft they are not, but the first tries to claim saltiness anyway).
Hang about enough either at a CG (Community Goal) or on the forums, and you'll soon spot some this going on.
Must be a European thing.
Actually, we can blame you guys:

U.S. slang sense of "angry, irritated" is first attested 1938 (probably from similar use with regard to sailors, "tough, aggressive," attested by 1920), especially in phrase jump salty "to unexpectedly become enraged." Related: Saltily.
email FDev & ask them to clarify since they farm it everyday here then ban you if you respond to itLol one fdevs finer moments was including the phrase in one of their patch notes!![]()
