Salvage mission-need help

hope I'm putting this in the right place

trying to do a salvage mission but getting stuck.

got mission
went to system
scanned system
got location-the star (white dwarf)
now not sure what to do, currently just hovering around the star wait for USSs to pop up, but other posts seem to suggest that one labelled as mission SS pops up quite quickly.

other problem is that other posts have said these generate within 0.5ls of target body. however cant get closer than 2.66ls to the white dwarf without entering its exclusion zone and dropping me out

help would be appreciated

Double check your transaction tab for mission details and target body, and navigation tab for the mission globe icon. Keep flying at 30km/s until it shows up. Did you honk or scan the nav beacon(from normal space)?

But it's mostly just a waiting game.
Jump, honk(or scan nav beacon), fly, wait.

I've never had one for a star before, so someone else might offer better advice.

fly to star, stay in supercruise at low speed and circle the star. wait until you get an info about a new signal source, go to your navicom and select it as a target, set you speed into the blue zone and drop out when its in range.

as I said, went to system, scanned system, got location as the star itself

is the SS named any differently? or do I have to drop into every degraded emissions and weapons fire signal source I find?

Ahh, cool, just checking. :)

You'll get an Audio confirmation saying something about a mission objective detected, it's hard to miss. It'll also appear blue on the HUD.

Also, be sure to apply sunscreen - the thick, waxy stuff you spread with a giant tongue depressor, and keep your fingers on the Deploy Heatsink button.

I've had a couple of these near white dwarf stars, and it only takes second for everything to go south fast.

yeah got factor 10,000. hope that's enough. appears not to work to well on the hull though.

Best advice for Liberate and Salvage missions: never, ever take them.

Seriously. No matter what reward is. Even if it's 4 CIFs.

normally don't, but trying to build up rep with one faction to unlock an engineer.
had to abandon the star mission, hate to think how many missions worth of rep I lost with that. did also cost me 110k in damages to my ship due to overheat damage.

It amazes me that the FD team said

"Let's make signal sources have an actual location to find them in, so they aren't just a timer!" (This is an amazing idea which to me is bizarre wasn't the original implementation)

Then went

"Also let's keep the timer in as well!"

Why... why would you do that? It makes no sense whatsoever. Your giving the things a location, so it actually feels like you are FINDING something, not waiting for a game, to spawn a thing.

It's insane.

You should scan for the area, and when you get there, you should either, instantly spawn the mission USS, or, have one of those search zone things we get in planet surfaces, except, you know, in space.

Either way, it could be vastly better than leaving the timer in! You did the right thing by changing the timer system, just get rid of it altogether, its terrible!

In general, if the player is not doing anything to further the progress, while time is passing, there is something wrong.
